Preamble: In celebration of the impending release of Harmony blah... blah.....

igLoader is now free to use, no strings(for most of you), no ads, no money. The website and license is to be updated over the coming weeks.

The bottom line(s):-

* No license fee for freeware or commercial use
* No link back required (but it would be courteous)
* Unlimited licenses
* No feature restrictions
* No license expiry or renewal fees

** Important note: You may only distribute your own titles (IP) with igLoader, to distribute third party titles (IP) you will be required to purchase the correct license - more details on that soon. Indiepath Ltd reserves the right to refuse licenses to individuals or organisations, licenses are granted at our discretion.

How do you get your licences?

1. Visit igLoader.com and create a trial account
2. Wait for your account to be authorised
3. Login to the license tool
4. Download the SDK
5. Create your licenses and go live.

The product is always undergoing development, the next release will see the removal of remote license checking.

eh? why? well, im defently going to check this out. Last time i checked it didnt work, so i hope it does now. (the loader)

[edit]
okey, i signed up for a 15 day trail. now its up to you to make it a full comercial license right? or did i understand something wrong :-)?
I will only use the software for my own titles.

Is that a good or bad thing? Why you do that?

k, it says:

You are licensed for unlimited PREMIUM title(s)
You have 1 PREMIUM title(s) live
You have 0 FREE title(s) live
Your have 0 title(s) in terminated status

Is there any documentation?

Could I use this to make Naked War run in a web page?

Does it effectively install the game every time you visit or does it keep data on the local PC? (Naked War is a 35meg download).

Presumably I'd need an in-game turn browser as currently NW runs turns by file association. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Hmm.. it seems the game portals will need to pay for the special license

>Does it effectively install the game every time you visit or does it keep data on the local PC? (Naked War is a 35meg download).

Download once and run locally afaik.

BTW, I really hope the indiepath modules will go alive again....

It also has some streaming technology I recall, so Naked War should run nicely :)

There's a ton of information at www.igloader.com , of course.

I cant login to the website, even after getting a new password, it always says the password is incorrect

*IMPORTANT* Tim (Indiepath) just told me that due to personal circumstances he is currently unable to post any replies at the moment.

Crikey, that doesn't sound too good. :/

I'm back at work now, I'll answer these questions tomorrow. Thanks.

Download the SDK and you'll find comprehensive documentation within.

Yes

Does it effectively install the game every time you visit or does it keep data on the local PC? (Naked War is a 35meg download).
It will cache a local copy and run from that, you can also update that copy using the versioning tools.

I will only use the software for my own titles.
All licenses are now created as full commercial licenses.

Not sure what you mean here. The sandbox will give you access to your own files.

Please post to the official igLoader forum if you are still having problems.

Is that a good or bad thing? Why you do that?
igLoader always phones home to ensure a license is still valid. There were two reasons for doing this, 1)To shut down malicious code if detected and, 2)To cancel a license if fees were not paid. Now that the product is free and the Sandbox is as tight as a ducks arse there is no longer any reason to do these checks.

Harmony will be in beta soon, hopefully some of you will be up for testing :)

Thank you Indiepath. Very kind of you, I think my project just became 50% easier to complete.

Tim, that's great, will you update/sell those great BlitzMax modules, or you're very busy now?

I'm sure I'll find time for the modules soon, I'm also thinking about extending them so that they can be used with the Blitz3D SDK.

I`m sure this is answered on your site but do games have to be recoded in anyway to get them to work with igLoader?

Jason.

Not normally but experience has taught me that some changes are needed especially if you are attempting to perform tasks that are blocked by the sandbox. My advice is to test it, if it does not work then I'll work through a solution with you.

Using Naked War as an example - if I'm downloading all 35mb of it whether I download the EXE or via IGLoader, why would I want to play it in a browser window as opposed to playing it normally?

Plus if I ever near to clear out my browser cache, I'd have to download the entire 35mb again, right?

What are the benefits?

Why would I want to play it in a browser window as opposed to playing it normally?
A browser game is normally a heavily cut-back version of the full game, it's a demo, a trailer, a teaser. It's normally quick to load and a good representation of what you'd get for your hard earned.

Plus if I ever near to clear out my browser cache, I'd have to download the entire 35mb again, right?
igLoader has it's own cache that is seperate from the browser cache. And yes igLoader will install shortcuts and uninstall software.

Whatever igloader downloads, it's not playable offline right?

In other words, no one will be able to play the game using what was downloaded by igloader?

Just double checking ;)

Whatever igloader downloads, it's not playable offline right?
Correct - unless you've got Harmony installed.

What if you do not (at the time) have a domain to host upon?

Website updated to reflect new license structure.
