ARGH Are you sure... YES!!

Ive been living with it for months now but im gonna start going batty real soon (as in taking quite literally a large bat to the thing!). After installing IE7 how do you turn off all the new "are you sures" the filemanager seems to generate every time i want to run a locally stored program or open a zip file? (im not refering to downloads)

I dont want it, need it or like it. Its patronising and annoying.

There must be something somewhere, a kind of "tick here if you know about execution risks and are not a moron option" has anyone actually found it yet?
I mean, im not trying to control a nuclear power plant damit im just trying to use my pc the way i always have!

its not a virus, all the pcs at work are the same and i run sp/adware checks every other day and am sat behind both hardware and software firewalls.

The warning says exactly (for opening zips and exe or right clicking on them):
-Yes i know

Then for running almost all exes in addition to the above:
-Ok so they havent paid MS any money (or however you are uspposed to get on the 'list')

They could have at least added a 'never show this message again' box

I just want to switch it off as i already know the risks and would not make any difference anyway. If i run installers for virtually any indie or small fish software (almost everything i run) i get the message 'unknown publisher' so whats the point in me having it pop up all the time?

Problem with me is if i get too many benign warnings i tend to ignore the important ones :/

Is it IE7 or Vista that's making the messages?

If its Vista, turn User Account Control off.

Its XP (im not touching vista with a bargepole until i absolutely need to) but this has only started since i upgraded to IE7 a few months back.
Strange thing is, its nothing to do with the internet and i dont even use IE, i use firefox but...for example:

-Open 'my computer' or 'explorer' and right click on a zip or exe. I get a warning. (why should ie have changed this! i know its kind of intergrated but.. damn!)

-if i run one of my own programs (or any indie program) i get a warning

-if i open a zip/rar etc file i get a warning

-if i chose to save to disk from the net i get a warning (this i dont mind so much as its actually to do with the internet)

Next version of IE, you get one of these:

"Warning, Will Robinson. Warning!"

Sounds to me like you've got something nasty on your PC. Done a virus/Adaware check?

I have 3 PCs here running XP with IE7, and I don't get this problem on any.

Probably isn't this, but you could at least try looking:

Control Panel-System-Advanced-Under Performance, click settings.-data execution prevention.

Its not anything sinister (unless you count windows itself :) -see edit above

I wish i knew how you did this.. every pc i use with XP,ie7 and network drive drive access are like this.

Theres an option in Internet Explorer to turn it off - Its in Network and settings or something. Have a search around on the internet, as its a common annoyance (especially if you run programs over a network).

Its Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Untick 'Automatically detect intranet network - but tick everything else
