Can I sell my BlitzMax?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Can I sell my BlitzMax?

Now I'm not trying to make a statement about Blitz in general here, or stir up trouble; I just need some money and I haven't used Blitz in ages.

I have: BlitzPlus, BlitzMax, BlitzMax GUI (and Grey Alien's superb Framework).

Am I permitted to sell these on and give someone my account here? I don't want to step on anyone's toes - I just need the money!

I've just been hit for ~£1000 by the tax man! Great timing... I'm off to the US of A in a few weeks. I'm sifting through my hardware now to see what else I can sell on...

Certainly don't just hand your password to someone. Email the question to blitz support.

I wouldn't sell it if I were you - you'll probably regret it later and tbh, what you'd get for it (about £20 tops) will barely make a dent in a £1000 tax bill.

Bit odd. How come you didn't get your tax bill in January like most people do?

Best to work out your own tax before you send off your tax return form. That way it isn't such a shock when the bill comes. :)

Yes you can. Send an email to support@... and include the BUIDs for the products you wish to transfer, and the email address of the person you are transferring to. Your own BUIDs will then be cancelled and new ones will be sent to the new owner.

Apparently my accountant has known about it since November 2006, but she was "hoping I wouldn't have to pay it". It looks like it was triggered by a change from contracting to running my own business (with three friends) in August 2006. She's advised me to pay it within 30 days (i.e. take a hit in my next pay packet), as it's already overdue. If I don't I'll end up paying 1.5 x the figure (or something like that). I think either she's screwed up or my old umbrella company did. I'm going to look into it properly on Monday...

Thank you Simon.

Going OT, but...

I'd definitely be arguing with your accountant about that! You pay them to do your accounts and keep you informed of problems - not to gloss over problems and hope they'll go away!

They've put you in a position where you have to find £1,000 in 30 days, where you COULD have had six months to sort it out if they'd told you about it when they should have done.

She's screwed up - whether the bill is right or wrong, she should have told you about it.

I'm with you 100% here GFK. The annoying thing is the letter (yeah, she didn't even phone me) arrived this morning, and I (frustratingly) can't do anything about it 'till Monday!

Even though I'm sure it is her fault, I can't see how I can get out of paying it. It's really p'd me off. Suffice to say, whatever the outcome, she won't be my accountant for much longer.

Oldest trick in the book that, mate!

They work Monday to Friday. They have letters that they know are going to annoy people, and post them so that you get them on Saturday.

What's your initial reaction when you got the letter? Ring them up and shout a bit? Demand an explanation?

You've now got the entire weekend to calm down before they have to deal with you. :)

I'd also be interested in selling my copy of Blitz Max, if anyone is interested...

Thats mad.

Are you sure she didnt methion it "in passing", sort of not really telling you, but coveringing her bases anyway.

Accountants can be devious little sods, but normaly they are devious on your bealf. If she works for a firm, (and you dont like her), then if her answer doesnt rub true approach a more senior partner. (Im not saying they will wipe the £1000, but ive been in a simialar situation, where they paid the bill for me, and just added that amount without interest to there Bill;- thus giving me a quarter to pay rather than the two weeks I had been presented with.

PS. Selling Blitz is pointless. Sell all your Boxed stuff first

We can accomodate people who wish to transfer Blitz but we'd prefer it if the forum wasn't used as a trading place. I'm sure you can understand why...

I completely understand Simon. Feel free to remove this thread.

I'm not selling after all.
