Anyone else had an email, change of PayPal notification?
If so, is it real?

Is it adressing you by name?

If not it's fake.

To make sure log in to Paypal and check.

If it has the subject: Subject: Important changes to PayPal Accounts in the European Union

Then I got one too, its addressed to my full name, but it also says I dont need to do anything. So its binned! :D

Rules of Safe PayPal Use:
1) Do not trust any e-mails from or about PayPal unless they contain zero links to PayPal.
2) Do not trust any e-mails from PayPal.
3) Do not click any links in e-mails from PayPal.
4) Exercise common sense.
5) If it has anything to do with your account, you can log in and check manually. Repeat rules 1-3.
34) There is porn of it. No exceptions.

If you ever get an email from paypal saying you need to click a link to update some information, don't. If you are concerned the email is real, just type in the URL to their website manually, or use the shortcut you normally use. If you really need to update something, when you log in, the page will tell you. Even if the email has the little paypal logos and stuff and looks totally legit, including the url's on the links showing up in your staus bar as pointing to paypal, it may still be fake.

And just trying to log in to a bogus link in an email will be enough for them to gain access to your account and take your money. All they need is your username and password. They don't need to ask you for a credit card or anything.

Yeah I've seen all the dodgy ones. I think that the last one is a genuine one telling you that paypal in Europe is moving to Luxembourg, I got it too. You don't have to click any links asking for your password, it's just info.

Just check the IP against the IP of www.paypal.com, if its different, its fake.

I am not sure if it a fake or not.

The reason I am a bit suspicious is because I have two separate email accounts. One of these was linked to paypal but isn't anymore. The other email account is linked to my current paypal account.

I got the PayPay email in both accounts.

I've just checked it. It is a true email. You don't have to do nothing, it is just a user's info.If you login to your Paypay account, you'll get the same info.

I've loged in into my paypal account, from my browser, not following any link.

And the email you've received doesn't include any link, and doesn't ask any information, just informs you that there will be a new service for european users of paypal, but that you don't have to make any change in your account. So, what's the danger of this email? It is not asking you anything, and it does not provide any link (fake or not).

As always, to be sure, log in toy you account from your regular browser, and check it for yourself.

I NEVER trust any emails from banks ebay or any other log-inable.

NOT EVEN ONES ADDRESSED BY NAME! (Rare, but its not impossible for hackers to get hold of complete user address lists)

If i think it looks convincing or then i will log into the service via a browser (NEVER! EVER! through any links in an email)
If something is that important you will be notified by system messages once you log in to the real system.

I didnt want to know if it was dangerious, just if it was real that Paypal was moving to Luxemberg.


(And the "two" that I got, both had 6 links at the bottom)

'Paypal Luxembourg'? It's real, pretty much all spam/phishing eMails I get regarding paypal appear incorrectly formatted, that's how I tell usualy :)

I'm not keen on this new sharing of my account details with others. Why they don't tell you before it's changed over seems bizarre.

I shall be reading this new policy very closely and if I don't like it I'll be closing my paypal account and accepting cheques or postal orders only.

It's probably a move to give less rights to it's members and more rights to paypal. Oh what a cynic I am :)

I get daily phishing ones from bank that I don't even have accounts with. It's almost like they've shot themselves in the foot. Even a real noob will become suspicious after receiving emails for accounts they don't even hold and then view future emails with a dubious eye even if they do have an account with the bank.

If you get an email from PayPal then I would advise you to immediately board up all doors and windows, push all available furniture against doors and hide under your bed -preferable with a comfort blanket. Praying may help and, if you know any voodoo dances, now might be the time to have a little jig. While jigging you should also cover yourself in virgin goat dung and drink the urine of a bilingual, mute, three-legged llama that works in a fish factory in Grimsby.
If that doesn't work you could try deleting the email, unless its a notification of payment of course, in which case it will be handy when you get the bill for the goat dung.
