Terrains required - preferably multi-textured

I've posted before about this.

I've got T.ED and other apps, but I really can't be bothered to make my own terrains. However, there must be a lot of them just sitting around on hard-drives.

I don't mind getting pure terrains or even heightmaps to add to my collection. However, I prefer finished multi-textured terrains - ie finished ready-to-go terrains.

I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, Puki, but here’s a Beta of my ‘Ultra Simple Terrain Generator’. You can generate some basic heightmaps + lightmaps + textures. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it but here you go: ustg1.0beta.zip

That look really cool. I've always wanted a good terrain solution with an easy editor that looks killer (dont' we all?)

I'm kind of hoping for ready-to-go terrains though. I want to do as little as possible.

Why not take the time to write your own fractal terrain engine and then you have unlimited landscapes just how you want them :)

I'm sorry to say I dont have any terrrains lying around, because I generate mine fractally when I need them... The nearest I have would be if you stole the terrain from http://sailing.bansheestudios.com - they're tiled and have multiple poly densities. The textures are in there but I think need manually applying ... but one command isn't too much for a napping cat is it? :)

What do mean by 'ready-to-go terrains'? Usually terrains are best customized for your rendering code otherwise performance is crap. Are you looking for a single large mesh or segmented meshes or something you can use with Blitz3D's built-in Terrain system?



Yes, a few clicks is a lot of work when you have paws instead of hands.

I'm the same, though I do occasionally write a front end GUI to test my algorithms.

Banshee, maybe you should offer your Overlord (Terrain System) code to Puki for a few thousand quid. He might be interested?
