Anyone in the UK have any spare video cards?

Poor little Big10p is stuck with a Geforce2 (AGP I think) and I just KNOW someone out there like me has a load of spare cards sitting around from prior upgrades that have more than 32mb of ram. :-)

I've got a spare ATI 9600 Pro (AGP) with 128mb of ram gathering dust.

While we are at it, Someone donate him windowsXP....

Thanks folks, but I'm fine with my old, creeking PC as it is, for now. Only really use it for interweb use, anyway. When I eventually do upgrade, I'll just buy a new PC. :)

Enay, don't tell me you're running 98! XP is way better. I waited forever to switch, and I wish I'd done it sooner. 98 crashed multiple times a day. XP stays up for days without crashing. And you don't have to use the stupid looking new interface either.

If I upgraded, who would test and break everyone's ubercode? I think Gfk is actually quite pleased I tested and had his game working well on my antique rig. :P

Granted 98 does crash a fair bit. But XP for me runs slower than 98, If I leave my XP machine for more than 10 minutes it grinds to a halt for 3 minutes before it lets me do anything.
If I haven't used my 98 machine in a while I'm suddenly at how fast it zips doing the same tasks than in XP. And sometimes in XP I get instantly taken back to the bios with totally fatal restarts. Never did that in 98.

Anyway can't be bothered to go into a full blown justification of performance. XP is certainly growing me on me slowly, especially after using Vista for nearly a year.

Yeah, that and Windows98.

I've just built a new PC cobbled together from bits off eBay, so I have a box full of spare parts to build an 833MHz test PC with. Just needs a case and possibly a PCI graphics card. :)

I had a few 'dump you straight to the BIOS' restarts the other day. Then I removed a 5mm thick layer of dust from the heatsink of my video card (I thought the fan was a bit noisy just recently!).

Similar amount of dust removed from CPU heatsink too.

All running nice and smoothly now again :)

My graphics card has started to sound like a motorbike when I boot up the PC, perhaps it just needs a clean too?

Fans that sound funny are fans that are likely failing. Do you leave your PC on 24 hours a day? I do, and that caused my video card fans to actually crack in half from overheating due to friction caused by the dust I never cleaned out.

My laptop has been overheating and shutting down a lot lately.

I decided to take it to pieces and shovel the dirt out - six years worth of it! :s

Runs much better now.

It's amazing on my card, in silent 5V mode I can still OC higher than the stock cooler on my 1st gen 6600GT, and at 12v I can OC 200mz ram and 50mhz core at about 40c

I've got a brand new 8800 GTX.

I'd happily accept a donation of a second one so I can SLI them.
