What U think??? Need 3D models

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/What U think??? Need 3D models

I'm thinking about setting up a site with a few, maybe more,
free 3d models for game developers, I think that is what all
new 3D game programmers really want:) The thing is, I
couldn't create all the models myself, what I want to know
is how many people would be interested in helping with this
site, helping provide a model. It can be anything, just not
something stupid like a cube:) Give me your website URL and
I'll try to help you get more traffic by placing your
website link around your model on my site. I would like lower polygon models saved as .x, .b3d, or 3ds, or all of
them:)

Character, building, weapons, anything! Also, an image of
the model, a render, would also be nice.It could be an a old
model you found you made while looking
through you directories:)

So what do you think? Would you be willing to help out?
(No prob if you don't, just want to know if it would be
worth it to set this site up.) I wish this forum had a
poll:)

The site is not up yet but, if you would like you can email
me models at admin@.... You will be the first one to
have your model on my site:)

Thanks

I'd be willing to put some models on the site, got 1 or 2 hanging around on my old hard drive.

might even make some more for you now that i have a bit more free time

I don't see the point if you're just going to link to stuff because it'll just end up like so many other things, a site of broken links when people move/delete stuff or it'll just end up being pruned away to nothing if you remove the dead links.

If you were hosting them, then it's a different story.

I have a model on turbosquid you can put on there if you decide to go with hosting them, but I don't really care about generating traffic for TurboSquid, so there's no need if you're going to link. I suspect most people looking for free stuff try TurboSquid anyway, but I guess it would be useful to filter out stuff which isn't game-ready.

check out the models section at http://www.mentalillusion.co.uk I'm happy for them to be free for non-commercial projects, but not for commercial. I think a decent EULA needs to be written up for this sort of thing to protect the creators of the models.

The problem occurs when hosting them, who's going to pay for the traffic?

Gabriel, I am hosting them.
Here is my email admin@...

Looks pretty good, guy that I don't have on my keyboard:) I
like the Dragon:)

Great, thanks MikeT!

Well then feel free to add this :

http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/225215

Thanks, a ton guys!!!

This site will be useful to those that cannot draw either. I have no ability what-so-ever. The graphics I have are done by a good buddy of mine (unless they look like a 3 yr old drew them, then that's my stuff :P)

Are you planning on 2D images as well?

I will definately add your site to my list of goodies :) Thanks Zenn!

Good idea, maybe I should add some 2D graphics as well. But I
shouldn't get ahead of myself now:)

I have to think of an domain name. I guess I could just add a
subdomain to my domain. hmm

What do you think?

I think I am going to go with resource.jomho.com first. Maybe
as time goes on I may decide to make a whole new domain name.

That could work... or if you are specifically targeting games how bout "gameresources.jomho.com"?

Anyways, I'm gonna add a link to your site on mine, if you don't mind...

Wow, thanks:) "gameresources.jomho.com" is a better idea but I already set up resources.jomho.com:(

I'd be willing to put some of my models on there too. Various airplanes and whatnot.

Great! Thanks!

airplanes are good:)

I'd like to look at the site when it's created, I need some 3D models.

ok
