Grey Alien's Iron Fist - next version?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Grey Alien's Iron Fist - next version?

I have played Iron Fist by Jake Birkett and was goodly impressed with its concept. Too bad it's too short. Will there be a next version or you have abandoned this project, Jake? Perhaps, some rewrited gfx / music / new levels and this product could be commercial and succesful.

Hi Matt, I'm glad you liked it! It was the first thing I programmed in BlitzPlus and it took about 6 months part time (250 hours or so). I wanted to make a platform game that had everything in it that I wanted to see in a cool platform game. But really the project was massive and I had no artist. So eventually I had to put it the side and make some simpler games.

I also came to realise that it had a limited market as a commercial game but perhaps as a freeware game it could do really well.

Secretly I'd love to rewrite it in Blitzmax and carry on adding in all the stuff that I wanted like shops, different weapons and fighting styles, keys/doors, puzzles, many more enemies etc The list of ideas is huge! But I have to earn some money meanwhile making more commercial games ...

Shame. I really liked the concept too.

Is there a link to the demo?

It's on this page.

I`m always willing to do the art if you ever choose to resurrect the game as it is a fav of mine too as you know.

Jason.

I hope you get back to this one day. It could develop into a really interesting mix between Kung Fu Master, Samurai Warrior: The Battles of Usagi Yojimo, and the later Wonderboy games (the ones with shops, etc.)

Yeah and First Samurai too. Let's hope I strike it rich and can afford to spend plenty of time on it then.

QuickSilva. Very kind offer thanks :-) There's be a LOT of work in it (just the main character alone) but it would be cool.

Seems quite a few people like this game. Well I was passionate about it while I was working on it, and it's still cool fun to play today.
