OSAKit V3 (Vista, Java, Stream...)

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/OSAKit V3 (Vista, Java, Stream...)

Hi all

OSAKit version 3 is here :) http://www.osakit.com

OSAKit is a multi-browser (IE, Firefox, Opera, SeaMonkey...) solution to turn your desktop game into a web game without the need for Flash, Java or even change your source code in any way unless you want to use the new advanced features like communicating with the browser!

So, what's new?!

Vista compatibility:
OSAKit V3 now works with Vista.
Please test and let me know your experience.. I tested it on two machines and it works good

Browser interaction:
OSAKit Pro V3 now allows you to communicate with the browser as it works like a middle man. Now you can command OSAKit to run or execute JavaScript or even VBScript against the browser, you can call any native or your own Java/VBScript functions with unlimited number of parameters :)

Also you can display any URL in a new browser window with a single OSAKit command!

Stream download:
OSAKit Pro V3 allows you to download any file you want in the background and it notifies you when the file get downloaded! even better OSAKit can notify you of the progress of the file as it gives you the % downloaded of the file so you can update your own in game progress bar.

Coming soon:
OSAKit Sandbox should be ready soon I've already managed to code my own and get it working with NT based OS but had hard times with Win9x so I think I will use a 3rd party library like
http://www.hook-api.com
http://madshi.net
or
http://www.codeproject.com/system/Paladin.asp
if you can recommend one please let me know!

Please visit http://www.osakit.com/inaction.html to download the latest SDK or try some of the samples there!

Waiting for your feedback especially Vista users, thanks in advance.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. =]

Vista Home Premium, recently re-installed - I finally decided to give using the 'created user account and UAC turned on' combo a chance. =]

I can click on the cas window and move it around within the grey area and the 'game' plays fine. The cas window is roughly 1.5x times the width of the grey area, so I can't see the entire window at once.

I then proceeded to close that IE Tab and clicked on another sample - only to have IE crash and restart itself.

Not to be discouraged so easily, I boot it back up and click on Pharoah's Curse again. It finishes downloading the game bundle, then brings up my taskbar (which is normally on auto-hide), nothing else happens. The downloading box turns into the grey area, tho the grey area has not changed dimensions. It does appear to be that Pharaoh's Curse is lurking around somewhere, because my CPU usage is at 100. Closing the Tab again causes IE to crash and restart itself.

At this point I feel there's not much point testing the others ;]

Thanks Toby for your feedback.

Could you please open your IE then click on Tools menu and choose Enable or Disable Add-ons from Manage Add-ons and disable things like Yahoo or MSN Messengers or any similar addon and try again?

Also could you please download the OSAKit Player and install it and see if it is ok or not?!

Thanks in advance

OK not much progress here... I disabled 3 FlashGet plugins and Flash. There was nothing else. Same results. I installed OSA Kit Player, restarted IE and tried castle2.html, but it brings up a page with a big area for something to go in, but nothing happens.
