Yep, I got a 20" sammy widescreen a few months back (1680x1050), it's lovely! Cost me £200, it's down to £159 now!

I'm mainly getting this after playing on one at my parents house at the weekend and realising my 17" tft just doesn't cut it anymore. Most games support widescreen resolutions these days which is nice, and it's much easier on the eyes. Google earth looks awesome too.

Guys, if you run an 800x600 game on your widescreen PC, does it automatically display in the correct aspect ratio or is it all stretched? I tried JazzieB's rockman type game on my Mac and it shows 800x600 in the correct aspect ration AND has a widescreen mode whichis not distorted.

Really I need to start a thread about this at some point...

Doesn't it depend on whether or not stretching is enabled in display settings?

don't know I don't have one. Question is can a "casual" user change thees settings or is it like the proverbial video recorder?

Yeah, my vid card has the option to not stretch the image, the moniter I assume doesn't have that capability, it just displays what it's given.
