Worst Jobs turned into games
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Worst Jobs turned into games
Anyone ever wondered why games like Diner Dash are so popular when working as a Diner Waitress is a pretty badly rated job? I was just reading a thread about this concept on Indiegamer and people were coming up with some games based on crap jobs. Here's mine so far:
Checkout Assistant Pro
The curse of the VAT Inspector
Care Home Caper - with bum wiping mini-game
Shelf Stacker-tris (like Tetris)
The adventures of Farmboy
Roadcrash Cleanup Crew Simulator
Filing Clerk Tournament (with mutiplayer support)
Abattoir Tycoon
Soy Bean Farmer MMORPG
> Soy Bean Farmer MMORPG
it's not an MMO but there is a game called "American Farmer" (or something like that) put out by the John Deer company. I saw it in Walmart next to the hunting games...
Haha, I also know of a Dope Farmer game, mind you it has the potential to be more fun than Soy Bean farming...
lol :)
Well there's already been a few classic bad job games
Tapper
Paperboy
TrashMan
Automania
Flunky
Trapdoor (ok, kinda stretching it there!)
I'm sure there are more... but that's off the top of my head
And depending on your definition of a bad job...
Commando
Ikari Warriers
River Raid
Doom
Half Life
etc etc etc
Sewer repair man - terror of the deep.
A driving game where you run over animals and create roadkill would be cool.
> A driving game where you run over animals and create roadkill would be cool.
I could swear I've seen one, maybe it was a mod for some other game. Or maybe it was the chicken killing truck from the Redneck Rampage demo.
but that's not a "job" as far as I know...
Screw all that. I bought bltz so I could write my dream game Strip Club Tycoon. Never finished it though.
It all boils down to gameplay mechanics and the theme. Diner dash incorporates a certain gameplay mechanic that is found in numerous games. The Diner part is the theme. Those are the two basic elements of any game: game mechanics and theme.
Hell in that case, they should make a game called "Business App Web Programmer".
"Business App Web Programmer"
Ha ha ha ha ... That would be good.
"game developer pro"
where you have to program your own game and write it, you lose points everytime you get distracted and start browsing or playing other peoples games.
Business App Web Programmer
lol @ that one!
"game developer pro"
somebody already made that, I think it may have been a web game a couple of months back.
How about:
SQL Server Admin Manager - does not require a 3D card, sound card optional.
Support Master - Outsourced to Hell
Barney
The adventures of Farmboy
Harvest Moon - best freakin' game ever.
Agree with Noel.
Also, Sim Farm was a great game.
I don't know about that john deere one... Any one actually play it? I'm gonna go look fora review..
EDIT
I looked into the game, and a LOT of farmers really love it.. It seems to get mixed reviews.. Half think it is boring, and half think it is the best Farming Sim ever.. (I can only think of one other...)
If i would be a Lemming i would say... :O)
How about Spy vs. Spy?
I've started on a coffee serving game based on my Dunkin Donuts job a couple of years ago, but never finished it...
Telephone Marketing - worst job I ever had (for about a week). You basically sit and call people all day who hate you. :)
game development games have been around since the 8 bit era, and so has one you all missed: Lawnmowing.
The Spectrum Lawnmower simulator was hugely popular, and I never figured out why... You just mooved your dude over uncut grass squares and they got cut. That was it...
If anyone can enlighten me wha the point of this 80's 'classic' was I would be grateful.
you require 'grass' to enjoy the game. Never underestimate the power of stoners en masse
How about a game not about a job, but about your life instead!
Nope, wait, Maxis already did that......
Super Hyper Mega Doorman - How many people can you open the door for?
Fallout? I mean being sent into the wasteland on a fools errand has got to suck pretty bad.
And speaking of which you could be a fluffer in the sequel.
Pretty much bottom of the barrel there...
Super Hyper Mega Doorman - How many people can you open the door for?
You know what....add a few odds and ends...with some wacky colorful characters and you may actually have one hell of a casual game there!
I saw a lawnmowing game the other day where you have to avoid dog poos. Might blog about it soon ...
Internet Scam Master - Extreme Edition
"Game Engine Coder, the adventure"
I got one: "Spam Protection Manager" ^.^
Still waiting for Microsofts Train Simulator addon called "Ticket Inspector"^^
Realtime call centre operative.
Buckingham Palace Guard simulator - hours of standing around doing sod all, for all the family!
Theme Hospital ! - Can't imagine working in a hospital
would be much fun .... but this game was !! :)
"Game Engine Coder, the adventure"
Should that be "the ENDLESS adventure"?
