A new website needs testing

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/A new website needs testing

Hey everyone. Normally I don't try to hype my web sites on other sites but I thought this might be a good place to pick of some alpha testers. The site allows you to share image, video and audio files with others. It's still in the early stages and many more features will be added over time.

Anyone willing to take a look and give honest and HELPFUL feedback is welcome to give it a try. Please send feedback to webmaster @ etherfun.com . Thanks!

I don't like the colors at all. If you're going for a color scheme that makes sense, try this site:

Also it would be a nice addition to have sections on the front page for Latest Videos, Latest Sound Clips, Newest Members, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, maybe you could suggest some colors. I'm color blind so anything I choose is likely to be a bit off for other folks. :)

It's mainly the "hurt eye" green on the menu at the top.

Colors are too bright/full I think. I'd move the colors towards grey (128,128,128) a bit. Grey/center colors don't hurt the eye and aren't offensive to anyone.

When I choose a background color for an editor I'm making, what I usually do is start with grey, and then add some to one or two RGB components. So, 128,128,128 becomes 144,128,128, or perhaps 128,128,128 becomes 128,144,160. Very easy to the eyes.

okay tweaked the colors a bit, take a look and let me know. Also I just wanted to point out that it renders in IE MUCH nicer than in Opera or FireFox. I haven't quite figured out the CSS for those browsers.

I also added the "most recent" section on the home page for videos. audio and pictures.

I have another question. Would it help to have games on the site or would that seem out of place?

colours seem the same to me...

The colors are too saturated for my taste. The scheme is ok, so if you desaturate them it'll look a good deal better. Well I'd probably lose the green. Green and orange are not a great combination. Perhaps just a grey, or a different shade of orange or blue, since you're already using those. In general blue combines well with yellow and/or orange so if you knock out the green and use some less primary shades, you should be on the right track.

A good rule of thumb is "Get it right in Firefox and fix it for IE" Opera usually does a good job of rendering as well (with a few issues).

FF with the Web Developer Toolbar and Firebug is the best way to develop.

Try http://kuler.adobe.com/ for a cool color scheme. You can either make your own or browse for already made schemes.

that's an interesting site, thanks.
