Is there a free font creator?

For doing what? Creating TTFs?

If you want to create bitmap fonts from existing TTFs, try FONText.

If you want to create your own bitmap fonts and use them with a replacement of the blitz Text command, see my sig.

[edit] FONtext is what you want to use if you're doing a 3D game, TBH. Either way, both are free. :)

Is Fontext still available from anywhere? The website is dead now.

Have you tried JuicyFonts yet ? It works quite nice.
