Automatic Updates broken.

Hi all,

My copy of windows updated itself this morning, after which, automatic updates stopped working.

so I disable it.

Now, when I go to microsofts website to manually update it says I need to enable it, so I do. I am promptly greeted with an "Automatic Updates has encountered a problem" about 50 bazillion times.


ANy ideas how to sort this? System restore didn't fix it!

Mine keeps wanting to install two Security Updates for .Net 2.0 that are already installed (hundreds of times).

Update; Windows is still chucking the error.

Ubuntu installed but then couldn't find some file or other in Grub. Loverly.

Any last chance ideas before I download myself a fresh MediaCenter disk? (I got a key- but no disk :P)

I should download one anyway...

I had a major problem with Windows Updates 6 months or so back - I couldn't install any of them - I could download them, but they wouldn't install - I ended up having to buy a new copy of XP.

Keh? You know that label on your PC can be used on a fresh installation ;)
