Photoshop CS3 UGH!!!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Photoshop CS3 UGH!!!

Just been playing with Photoshop CS3 and Imageready is no longer there. As a consequence half the tools I normaly use are missing.

The optimize feature seems to be missing, as are the slice tools for easily slicing up UI's for games or web use. I only got to play with it for about an hour and it seems like a lot of the most useful features for game artists have disappeared or moved to their other premium price tool Fireworks CS3.

Didn't realise how much I rely on Imageready for day to day work till it disappeared :(

Anyone else tried Photoshop CS3 and think its worth the upgrade price?

Imageready is built in...the same features are in Photoshop now. The slicing tools are in the CS3 toolbar!

Did you test the standard or the extended edition of PS CS3?

I haven't done much with it since I have it, but it seems the support for "stitching" has improved. I bought the extended edition, because it was not that much of a price difference.

PS CS3 is now a universal binary, which is already reason enough to buy it when you are on an Intel Mac. And when you do RAW photography, PhotoShop the only real option anyway (for editing, that is; Aperture is great for everything else that you do -before- you have to open an external image editor).

If you need all the tools, then you probably have to buy the entire web design suite. It's got a lot of bang for the buck, and I think the package is well worth the price. However, if you are not an Intel Mac user who finally wants to take full advantage of the performance of his machine - why would you want to upgrade to CS3 when you already have CS2? That only makes sense if there are any features in CS3 that CS2 did not have but that you really, really need. If that's not the case, just save your money.

heh, I'm going to have to look into it some more. Maybe I was too hasty, only had a quick look, don't know how I missed slices if its in the regular toolbar.

Doesn't look like trial versions are avaliable yet, so till next week :(
