Wow! http://www.gametrailers.com/search.php?s=Little+Big+Planet&str_type=movies&ac=1

Yeah, I saw the GDC 2007 trailer for this, and that's when I knew for sure I'd be buying a PS3 sooner or later. Absolutely fantastic looking game, which will probably appeal just as much to the pissed-up-pub-refugees as the kids.

Brilliant, brilliant brilliant...if this steers well than this is the PS3 reason and the killer app!

*jumping* Let's hug Gabriel! ;O)

Is it PS3 only? I feel younger when i watch those videos! :O)

Yes, Sony have been involved with this game all the way through development.

I know what you mean about feeling younger. In the GDC trailer, you can hear the audience chuckling, and as I was watching I found myself chuckling out loud a few times as well. Then I mentioned the game to a friend who said she didn't think it looked special. Nevertheless she watched the GDC trailer - as I assured her she'd be pleasantly surprised - and ( we were on the phone at the time ) I could hear her giggling out loud periodically as she watched it too.

It's just one of those games that has that effect on people, I think.

/me is bouncing around...wooohhhh! :O)

Really there is so much fun and pleasure in the trailer already - great music too!

When will this be released? Who is the dev team? More infos?

So next year... http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/gdc-07-sony-reveals-littlebigplanet-242171.php

That looks great! :)

Dabz

holymoley!

It looks cool, but I think it will get old fast, once you have played around with the physics properties and thrown your character around a bit you will get used to the graphics and lose interest. Or at least I will anyway,

kind of reminds mo of the ragdoll kungfoo the way the characters work, just with more interesting scenery.

I dunno if you can build you own levels with the editor too but no matter if that's possible or not there is so much to explore with the gameelements sowhn already in the trailer that i think that this will be very intensive moments. I'm really looking forward to it!

This game will probably be the only reason I'll buy a Ps3.

I doubt you'd get bored with this game easily. According to Mark Healey "Platforming is the most basic form of gameplay kit we'll use, and give to the player to use, but I won't go into detail on those yet.".

I think the only similarity it has to RDKF is that you have inidividual control of the arms.

Too bad it's on the PS3.

I dunno if you can build you own levels with the editor too

You certainly can build ( and share ) your own levels, but there is no editor, that's the great thing. At any time, you can just stop and start creating or modifying the level. The editor is integrated fully into the game, apparently.

I consider myself pretty darn cynical and unimpressed with so much of the "new cool things" in video games, but LBP blew me away, and this is now genuinely above MGS4 and FFXIII on my looking-forward-to list.

@Gabriel
Okay...
Well if they don't screw up the steering and the difficulty then i definately buy a PS3.

@jhanson
I'm pretty fine with that. I don't expect it to be playable on my Lynx... :O)
By the way: Anyone remembering Chips Challenge and Gates of Zendocon?!

Damn. And I wasn't going to buy a PS3.

I read about this in Edge last month, and thought it sounded rather interesting (it didn't have a name then). But watching those vids...mmm-mmm. Laugh out loud funny, and I love the creativity / publishing / sharing / ranking / community stuff. So long as they pull that part off, it'll be a sure fire winner.

Does anyone know if the physics engine is hombrew/havok/ageia?

I'm pretty sure it's their own physics engine. This is the company founded by Mark Healey, who developed RagDoll KungFu, so I think this is just the next generation of that engine.

If they also did the physics for RagDollKungFu on their own then it's quite possible. But there's a lot more in LBP than in the old game.

Didn't know who Mark Healy is, should have figured with the similarity between the two games.

Thing that I'm disappointed in, is that there's been nothing like that (to my knowledge) that's come out for the PC.

Anything that's extremely moddable is mainly FPS-related genres.....

I'd kill for something like this on the PC, would be miles easier to import your own media to play with.

It wouldn't play well on a PC though. Not enough people have gamepads, and it wouldn't be the same on a keyboard and mouse combo. It needs an analog stick.

ive got a gamepad. Dont use it much though, i prefer a mouse and keyboard (especially where fps is concerned) but for this kind of game a gamepad would be better i think.
