Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles

The next release of the Resident Evil franchise will be Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii. Which unfortunately has taken a turn from the horror-adventure genre to something more of a light-gun on rail shooter. Apparently Capcom decided take the formula that worked well with RE4 and saving it for RE5 while choosing to "experiement" with a different style of gameplay with Umbrella Chronicles. Not sure what to make of it yet. But will still give it a go....

Still at least we are getting a remake of RE4 for the Wii too with Wii remote controls. I never managed to find a copy of the game before (GameCube) so I`m looking forward to buying it.

Hmm, there were some RE FPS sorta games a while back but by all accounts they were rubbish so I never got them. Mind you a properly "lightgun" game on the WII with a well done RE theme could be quite cool.

Sounds like the Wii gets the bad end of the bargain.

I'm not a horror game fan, but that idea sounds horrible...

It looks ghastly. And the title must be the crappiest idea for a game title that anybody ever came up with.

Er.... they're zombies. Like in the last 8 million Resident Evil games. :rolleyes:

The game doesn't look too bad, except for 2 massive problems.

1) Look at that twitchy cursor, clearly makes you want to grab your light gun, something that you've been able to do since duck hunt on the Master System

2) It looks like a poor man's house of the dead, a game which is over 10 years old. On the House Of The dead games you could shoot bullets into different parts of the body and blow their arms, legs, face off etc. On that new Resident Evil all you get is a cheesy bit red of red splash on an otherwise super smooth grey looking zombie. House Of The Dead is way better.

yeah I'd say it looks like it may need some work. Well We'll find out soon enough...

I hope they at least touch up on the graphics...

1) The wiimote is a pointer device not a light gun. I don't think light guns are even practical any more with the demise of CRT. The pointer is extremely precise - only as twitchy as the player. Duck Hunt was on the NES.

2) Poor mans? More like a super-deluxe ultra lavish House of the Dead. But yes, probably really boring in the end.

I'm actually looking forward to a new "light-gun" game - I loved those!

yeah I loved light gun games but since getting a plasma 4-5 years ago I've not been playing them and I had some cool one for PS2. So an equivalent, if not quite as good controller, is still welcome.

You can get gun add-ons for the Wii controller so it should be just as good - if not better - than a regular light gun.
