Hi, as a small 'gift' in the time where you wait on the new Versions of simonH and mine, I give you a OpenAL based 3DSound
extension with I think all B3D 3D Sound Functions:

EmitSound,Load3DSound,CreateListener (note, in fact it is more a SetListener because OpenAL only supports one listener) and PlayMusic (a Wrapper Function for Ambientsounds or BackgroundMmusic)

Just import sidesign.minisound3d and you should normaly could use the 3D Sound (OpenAL have to be installed and on Win the OpenAL dll has to be shipped with your app).

If you miss something or find a bug let me know. I will do my best to bugfix it when needed and adding useful functions.

Also thx to Mark Sibly for the OpenAL Driver on which my sound driver is mainly based (only some naming changed and 1 or to internals)

PS:
Small update on the progress of my extended Version:
-Particle Engine has 2 new Functions
- SetWhirl (for nice Whirl effects,like tornados)
- and a new Surfacebased Emittertype, where Particles are emitted along the surface vertex positions

- Added also 2 new (but small) Functions to the miniB3D kernel which seems very useful for me:
- Show- and HideSurface (eg: useful for some LOD handling)

Does the normal OpenAL Driver for MAx2D work for you?
If yes, could you just run this sample?
