Goodle AsSense ... worth it?

Google Ads, even!

From some of your web sites, I've noticed that a fair proportion of them have Google ads on them. What I basically want to know is are they worth it? How much income do they generate, and so that I can put it into perspective, how many hits does your site get? Or you could state how much they generate per 1000 hits.

I've generally been against them, as I think they spoil the overall look of a site. However, current circumstances find me needing to generate a little extra income from somewhere, and this seems to be possible way of doing so.

From those that do use then, do you put them on every page or do you think that the index page is enough?

I may just give it a go anyway and see what happens, but was interested to know what your thoughts were.

I run a single adsense advert below the fold on pjio.com and it generates a very reasonable amount considering it's position. For 1000 hits don't expect more than a couple of dollars per day at the very most.

It's pretty easy to set up and then it makes a bit of money each day. About £5 a week I make from www.GreyAlienGame.com and www.BinaryJoy.co.uk. Not tons, but better than nothing and it's rising all the time. I make more money from affiliate sales for sure and that's beginning to rocket. But at the end of the day, it's all peanuts compared to a *real* job ;-)

Thanks for the info guys. I actually get around 3000 to 5000 hits per month on my site, but I know I probably need to get a lot more than that before I give up the day job ;o) I'd be quite happy if I got a few dollars a day, as it would still be better than nothing.

yeah mine pays for the hosting at the end of the year + some bonus.

I have a site that makes million hits per month, how much could I expect to make with google ads per month? any estimates?

we have not yet put google ads on the site since we are preparing to launch new version of the site and then we expect the number of hits to grow even bigger.

anyone here has prediction how much a site with 1-2 million of hits per month could pull in from google ads?

I'm not lying nor it's porn site. It's a social web portal. Any numbers how much you can make with 1-2 millions of hits per month?

You'd better adsense that baby up! Mind you it depends on the audience type a lot as to whether they click ads or not.

1-2 million hits? that's a rather large delta. With that many hits you should think about selling advertising direct and then you may well get $8 CPM, that means about $8000 dollars per month on average for 1 million hits. I'm a tad confused though how you manage to get that many hits, your relaunching and you've not even done any research into advertising - how on earth are you monetizing the site?

Yeah give me 1-2 million hits per day and I'd be living on a tropical island (with broadband).

we do have ads on our site, but these are local ads for parties and such, they pay enough to cover the cost of server up to 300$ per month. We have been working for quite some time on the new version of the site and plan to launch it soon and expect the traffic to go up as well. We wanted to test google ads to see how much we could make from them.

It's annoying, but it works...
Just put the Google ads right under the links to every page
and people accidentally click it. :P
