And The vocals are a brilliant idea, this is another thing that could benefit from community support, having people all add their voice to some scripted phrases..

One thing time and time again we are asked for at Arteria to compliment the music packs and 3d media are voice actor packs for NPC characters. Therefore we have just launched a pack containing 70 vocal samples, of popular RPG based phrases, from your market stall characters, to a character of nobility.

The pack contains MP3, OGG and WAV files for you to use, royalty free after the one time cost of $40.

I listened to the 5 samples on the site - are they all supposed to be different voices/characters? Cos they all sound like the same voice to me.

I can't see many people being able to finish off their RPG with these, to be honest. Games like that normally have a very lengthy and specific script to follow.

The samples also sound very 'breathy' - especially the "You want riches" one; almost like the actor is whispering into a microphone because he'll feel silly if the neighbours hear.

Anyway, I think they are good - reminded me of the Baldurs Gate games. These are certainly better than I'd expect any Blitzer to produce. Voice acting is often something that games are criticised for and these samples are certainly equivalent or better than some of the stuff I have heard.

More info is required though - 'containing almost 70 vocal phrases, in a variety of voice tones from the market trader to nobility!' is not enough info. It will be commercially prudent to put a list of every phrase (and who says what) onto the site - as this is the main question a purchaser is likely to ask.

Still, I certainly think this branching out of Arteria to be a brave and good move. Just make sure you post about your site all over the game programming forums. Cobra3D is around the corner and that will possibly bring in new customers.
