FREE texture pack, new host

Hi all,

I've tried one of those free download hosts for my FREE urban texture pack. You have to enter the given code and wait 30 seconds or so.

Notice they have shots of the sides and ends of the wood stacks, the tiling textures of wood chips and trash, and all the variations on the cargo containers.

If you did make these, congratulations. My only criticism is the wall textures aren't really designed as modular pieces to be fit together in a scene. If you look at HL2, it has about ten variations of each brick wall...one with columns, one with an arch to place above that, another with a grate, another with a window. When you have 20 different color brick textures, the map doesn't look very cohesive.

However, I have a hard time believing some of these were made by you. I think some of this came from Counterstrike.

Maybe you should refrain from using the phrase 'definitely ripped from a commercial game' then?

Well... I'm gonna ride this out. Can anyone find any of these textures in something else? Did you look through counterstrike and see?

Nothing against you Tom. I'm sure you understand why I would be cautious.. Even if some were taken by you, some could still not be.

If no one can bring up any proof, I'll use them.

I've known Tom for about five years now - he ain't a crook. Him and his brother created every last one of these textures themselves.

If you don't believe that, then simply don't use them. But you don't have the right to sit here slagging the guy off and accusing him of thieving textures when you actually don't know squat.

If any of these textures are being used in CounterStrike, then that's ok, because 'I' have given them away free :)

I'm installing CounterStrike now. The air conditioners look very familiar, but I guess he probably did make all these.

Pretty good work. I'm not used to texture artists who have the foresight to take pictures of both the top AND the sides of an object.

Some of those tile textures are so dirty-looking they make my skin crawl, in a good way.

I can also vouch for their originality. Toms work is always excellent.

Now all you need is the word 'sorry' in there somewhere to even out the defamatory comments a bit.

Sorry I thought they were ripped. I saw those snow textures, and I thought "wait, these forma cohesive set of textures that are actually useful. They can't be free!"

The scrap piles, snow, grass, and some of the details are very good.

Naughty Alien: Have you tried with FireFox? I'm using that with the very cool ad-block plus addon and there's no toolbar request, just type in the 3 letters shown, wait 30 seconds, and it downloads.

These are fantastic... I'm currently working on a large game project (all by my lonesome) and was looking at many hours of running around with a camera shooting for textures that looked like those in this pack. So, you've saved me many hours!

I'll make sure a couple of copies come your way... assuming I get the thing done ;) One question though- are we allowed to edit the textures? (add more grit, chance colours, etc) Credit for the originals will be given no matter how changed, however...
