What web hosts would you recommend that provide PHP and MySQL?
I'm considering changing my web host because after starting to use my current host for real work in the past week, I've already run into 3 serious issues:
1. For some reason, my account wasn't set up to return PHP errors - just a blank page, meaning that I had to spend hours trying track bugs in the code.
2. After I contacted them about problem 1, they had to reset the server settings, but for some reason the GD library stopped working. I contacted them telling them that it was an issue with the hosting settings because the exact script was working just days previously and also the exact script was working on my local Apache server - they tried to fob me off by telling me it was the script and to look on the net for a solution. I then had to re-tell them that it wasn't the case.
3. After they tried to fix problem 2, the whole website goes down and then they tell me that they'll get a senior engineer to fix the problem. In the meantime I have to wait 24-48 hours for it to be resolved. WTF?!!! How can fixing one small module result in the whole website going down for 2 days?
In addition, I've had previous issues where e-mails have gone missing, but let it go for convenience. This time, they've gone too far.
I don't know what you guys think, but I think this is totally unacceptable. Plus, I'd promised potential clients that I'd have links to the beta of my new application by today; looks like the host screwed that up for me.
