Best Font?

What's everyones opinion on the best image font to use for a smooth, clean appearance? Most of the fonts I've tried don't look up to standard, and the style flag appears to have no affect at all (ie. ITALICFONT does not make the font italic).

I'm just copying fonts over from the Windows\Fonts folder at the moment, is there a better way?

Try using Brucey's FontConfig Lib available from http://www.brucey.net . It has a very nice set of features for loading system fonts using queries to the system rather than direct file loading. I think you will find it very useful.
