I have a Sapphire X1900XT video card. It generaly idles at 80 degrees! Is this a bit hot? My machine has started to reboot in the middle of playing the C&C3 demo (and other games), and I'm wondering if it's my video card. It's annoying the hell out of me...
ATI GPU Temperature
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/ATI GPU Temperature Not sure - If the card was overheating, I'd have thought you would get graphical artifacts and stuff on the screen.
What you have could be a sign that your whole system might be running a bit hot.

I've seen no artifacts, but 80 degress seemed a tad high for an idling temperature to me. Maybe it's time for a new case then? My Antec Sonata case is quiet, but I don't think it's the best for keeping things cool.
80 what? C or F? I'm guessing C, but still.
IIRC Nvidia GPU's are safe up to insane temps like 130C so it may not actually be the problem you fear.

If the problem has started recently then something is causing it - could be power related - I think it is temperature related but not the GPU.
Check inside your case - if it is a dustball then clean it all out - check all fans for dust - basically de-dust it.
I want a report back soldier - on the double - move, move, move it.

My nVidia 256mb GF6800 GT is idling at 70C here, and it's been fine for the two years I've owned it.
The overheat warning is set to 120C by default, so as Gab said, I guess these things do like to run pretty hot.

hmmm, my overclocked 6600GT idles at 43c I'd personaly be worried if mine went over 60c. thats with a CPU overclock of 100mhz, GPU 15mhz, Vram 215mhz
CPU 42c
System 27C
GPU 43C
I bought a Zalman copper cooler thingy for my vid card and GPU to keep them cooler though. was about $20 at my local electronics store.
