R4DS

Does anyone own an R4DS flash card for the Nintendo DS? Are they any good and can you play GBA roms using them? (Ones that you already own of course.)

If not can anyone recommend another device that is worth my money or direct me to a review site?

I have a M4 Simply which is in fact the same.

Its great.
And no, you can not play any GBA on DS Slot 1 solutions.
The Slot1 does not allow GBA games to run and emu hacks do not exist at the moment

Get a Slot 2 catdrige if you need GBA

How about things like SNES\NES emulation, do these things still work like they would on a two slot?

I have just invested in one of these R4 cards and I'm mightily impressed with it. So sorry to resurrect an old thread but does anyone else have one of these?

A complete list of information on it seems to be quite hard to come by. I've got an excellent Amstrad CPC464 which works 98% like the original and is really useful having a keyboard on the bottom screen to touch using the pen.

And you can read all sorts of text files, view jpeg, gif, png and play mod and mp3 etc and play movie files if you convert to a DS file format. Very cool!

But what other cool stuff is there to use, like system emulators? I was hoping for an Amiga Emulator but none seems to exist which is a shame. :(

They are great cards aren`t they. I went for a slot 2 one but now want one of these too. May I ask where you got yours from and how much you paid roughly? If you do not mind of course.

What does a Slot 2 one do that a Slot 1 doesn't?
If comes with a moonshell interface which is great as you can read txt files, even unicode ones. So I can save e-mails, web pages and stuff and read them on my DS later. 1001 uses for this cart already.

Cost me 40 UK pounds for a 2GB one

I wish I'd bought a 4GB memory though, although there's nothing stopping me from buying that separately. The memory stick is TINY, smaller than your ALT key on your keyboard and the width of a piece of cardboard.

The only difference with the slot 2 ones is that you can play GBA roms too. Believe me though, you went with the better option as the R4DS is simple and effective to use I hear.

I have a R4DS with 3in1 EzFlashV for Ram/GBA/Rumble

My R4DS card pretty much lives in my DS now. I highly recomend them. Although, as has already been pointed out, you can't play GBA ROMs on them. Make sure you check out LemmingsDS if you get dldi compatible card.

Check out moonbooks too if you like your literature, and make sure you download the ReadMore app. Lets you use the DS side-on like a book. :)

I've got a 8meg flash card. Only works with DS roms. NES emulation is good, but I tend to use my PSP for snes emulation. You can get an amiga emulator on the PSP but it deosn't run full speed, and using the keyboard is impossible. Still, it was good watching the 9 fingers demo on it. Can't see Amiga emulation working on the DS, it's just not fast enough.
I will have to try the amstrad emulator out, there were so many cool games I used to play on that, Roland in time anyone?

8meg flash card? It's that definitely only 8meg? Seems so tiny compared to 2GB.

The Amstrad emulator is good.
I played through and completed Target Renegade whilst in bed a few days ago. Classic memories in the palm of your hand.

You can convert movie files to a special DS file format which is really handy. Good if you want to show people stuff you have on your PC, like digital camera movies or stuff you downloaded from the Internet.

By the way, I still have the 9 fingers demo on my original Amiga and I remember that well. :)

Why does the Gameboy advanced flash carts cost 4 times as much as the ds ones now! GRRRR
