Well, tried to transfer some video from my DV camera to my PC. Mysteriously my PC is not detecting my Video Camera, it was last working about 3 weeks ago. Went into control panel to try an analyse connected hardware - no joy. I can't recall where my firewire card install cd is...
any suggestions for a firewire card testing utility?

If its plugged in correctly, it shows up in device manager as "IEEE1394 host controller". It should also be listed in your network connections.
You haven't said what OS you're using - I'm on XP here and Windows installed a driver for my firewire card by itself.
Found a nice tool called PCWizard which tells me my Bus FireWire is there... more diagnosis required - just hope my camera isn't goosed.
Yaay, the wonders of windows. I tried restarting the computer earlier today to no avail, camera not detected, gave up. The sabbath is a day of rest. LOL
Just thought - oh I'll give it another whirl and... with no rectification (apart from the computer being off for a few hours) it works. Sweet.
