Voice Changing Software

Does anyone know of any good, preferably free or lost cost, voice changing software? I have tried the AV Voice Changer which looks promissing but the demo is far too limited in what it lets you play with and also MorphVOX which requires the .NET Framework which I do not want to install just for this unless someone here says its really worth it and then I may give it a go.

Any other suggestions?

How do you want to change the voice? pitch it? Vocode it? Morph it?

GarageBand on Mac is good for that :-)

Indiepath, well I want to morph it ideally as I could use Audacity to change the pitch. Maybe it`s vocoding that I want. What exactly does that term mean? The ability to turn voices into robots and stuff is what I`m after preferably in real time.

Most soundblaster cards have the ability to do this, then you can just record what you hear (take a look at the effects you can apply via the SB control panel software). (assuming you have a soundblaster card).

vocoder:

It extracts the global amplitude envelope of a given band of a sound (e.g. speech), and applies this found envelope on the amplitude of the (same) band of another signal (e.g. strings). Usually there are many bands like this. This new sound then somewhat 'behaves' like the original sound, hence a trumpet can talk by copying vocal formats (bands).

If you let some analogue synth create some fat harmonically rich sound, and you apply a vocoder to it, voice-controlled, then you get robot'ish talking.
