Need quality music.. cheap? $10USD/finished min!
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Need quality music.. cheap? $10USD/finished min!
Music composing at $10 USD per finished minute.
Terms and Conditions:
- Minimum cost is $10 USD per track. For every complete minute after the first minute an additional $10 USD is added to the cost.
- I may use the tracks for demo purposes (i.e. for display on my site), but they are otherwise totally exclusive to your game. If you are willing to pay $30 USD per finished minute, I will not use the tracks for demo purposes and the minimum cost in this case would be $30 USD per track.
- Whilst the music is exclusive to your project, I am the creator of the tracks.
- If necessary, I will work with you on the piece till it sounds how you desire (within a realistic time frame naturally!!)
- Offer expires April 1st 2007.
A short demo of my work can be heard below.

That's incredibly cheap for composed music - are you sure you can afford to work with such low rates?

That's
exactly why the offer expires April 1st 2007 :).
So, its a joke?
no. He hopes to make some long-term repeat customers.
I'd like to see something more complex than what you supplied as a sample. Uses a lot of basic, almost GM sounds, and entirely lacks a melody.
Do you have anything that shows off your ability to compose dynamic pieces? Rather than simple beats and arpeggio-inspired-riffs?

Pretty much right, yes.

Sure.
I do appreciate your keen judgment indeed, although"arpeggio-inspired-riffs" is a most horrendous description. And it does not lack melody. 00:20 onwards exhibits a clear melody. I'm not trying to offend you or anything, but I think your comment was rather poor in that respect. But as for wanting hear something a bit more dynamic, well that is fair comment, especially for those considering the offer. I will upload some more demos.
I'm trying to help you, man. Something more impressive will get you more offers.
If you mean the climbing-8th-notes about 20 seconds in. Then I guess you can call it a melody... I mean.. there is nothing else there to call a melody.
But it really just feels like more arangement. It doesn't have any personality. And falls to far into the background..
Umm... If you can export this as a midi file, I could prolly write a melody for it... I'd let you have it.. You can call it a harmony if you want to.
Also.. I want to be very clear. I want to help you out here. I'm sure you can write a broad range of things for people, you just need to show that to them. Wow them with your best work.
* percussion needs lots of improvement
* strings/brass need realism, note-wise
* mixing/mastering needs improvement, from 0:21 it sounds somewhat distorted here, I suspect a too-heavy limiter threshold to have caused the fuzzyness.
Other than that, no so bad actually, not highly advanced either, standard material. I guess there's not much to moan about with your price..
But never mind me .. :D
Thanks for posting this. It's hard to find music/composers willing to create music for a decent price. Don't let anyone discourage you.
I think it's fine. You don't really want a strong melody line for games anyway, or it will distract the player too much. I think it's a nice combination of a little melody / smoothly flowing harmony, which is perfect for ambient music or menu music for games.

Are you serious.. at all? Why would I get somebody else who can't identify a melody in a song... to create a melody in a song. You're absolutely pathetic!
EDIT: I overreacted. Sorry.
I can do melody:

Uh, regardless of what brought that on, remember you're trying to sell stuff to people. You seem to have done your cause a disservice, despite the quality of your wares.

I don't care =p... well, to be honest, I do care and do I understand what you're saying completely. But there is a point where one must draw the line. I just found it mildly offensive that someone was offering to make a melody for me. And I did overreact.

That's the kind of criticism I appreciate. Thankyou.

I'll need a music theme for my future space shooter game.
what's tools do you use to produce music ?
Could you also produce xm files ?

These are all for a game called Apocalypse Online. For which I am composing all the music. Nils, the head of this project, has a very strange vision... Important note, all I do is compose, hence the midi-files.
Now, the important bit. The 3 files I provided links to have various feels to them. They are some complex, some more simple. They are perhaps my own most impressive work.. Which is what you should be doing. I would include the one you uploaded as a cooled down, muted 4th. If you wanted to prove you can do that style too, I'm not sure it is required.
I'd go with something grand and dramatic, then something moody and full of emotions, and then something that maybe shows you can do more than just one style, especially if the first 2 are a lot a like. You don't wanna be looked at as a one trick pony.
Nice midis. I'll upload some of mine in a tick. I don't understand what your post is asking though or saying?

Are you asking me to make something? :S. I will update my demos over the next few days, and I'll upload some more impressive stuff.
I will admit though.. and it is probably fairly obvious that I am new to MP3s and that's why I'm a bit rough. Hence, the offer. Midis on the other hand, different story.

:). I use FL Studio. I
can produce .xm files, but it is not something I do often and might take me a bit to get right. If/when you want the music theme for your future space shooter just give me an email with the specifics and we can work out the details from there.
I was suggesting what you should post to get people interested in your work.

Ah okay, fair enough. Listen to these 3 progressive midis.

This whole thread was about Escapader offering a service.. I don't think it's the right place to begin with negative comments about the quality of the work. Take it or leave it, but give the guy a break.

100% agreed. I find it sort of ironic that it was Dampe who was saying such too, considering how he felt when others did the same in his "OWL" thread.
DampeS8N:
People. I didn't ASK for your opinions. Please keep them to yourself unless it is a good idea.
I happen to have been right here... These midis are far better than the mp3 he posted.
Now. If you could go in and track these midis in fruity-loops with guitar samples and more arangement, you'd have something about a million times as impressive as your mp3.
EDIT
Honestly.. if you are capable of writing things like these.. why in the world did you post that mp3?
EDIT 2
I was refering to the old Mp3... not this new one........ The new one only makes me more confused why you posted that first one..
Escapader, your new demo theme is much better. The first theme reminds me a lot of the music to "Betrayal At Krondor" - you've got that same brass sound! Anyhow, good stuff.
Thanks Nomen luni and SculptureOfSoul.

Enough of being right and wrong lol.. I'm going to upload something of decent quality soon. The first MP3 just didn't appeal to everyone I guess. I will admit the mixing in the melodic part wasn't the best, but I think a lot of people were missing the point of it. Stuff doesn't always have to be complex - but yeah I guess it was a bad choice for a demo. Maybe after hearing the new demo you might make more sense of the other demo, I don't know. I only put the current new one up to stop all the complaining about me the apparent "no melody" in the first track, it's not really any different to the first.

Cool!! I think I've played that game a very long time ago. Anyway I'm really glad you like it =). Feels good to get some good feedback =D.
It's always the same story in music-threads on these forums.. :P
It's cause musicians and composers always have strong opinions about music. Ones they have trouble not expressing.
It doesn't help than you (CS_TBL) and I are both pompous asses.

Well that very statement is one thing I think we can all agree on :).
