Great URL no? Will have adsense soon, and more comics. I'm planning to give away a good bit of the adsense to a few choice comic artists. I need a broad range of humors and styles.

The site will obviously be a little easier on the eyes soon enough.

Anyway. If you do comics, want to do comics, post one here or e-mail me something and If it is good, or different enough, I'll post them. You can pick your own name too. Might I add, That name can be a link to your site.

So people can click it if they like your comics.

Eventually I'll add a view-by-author section.

Also. I'm open to flash artists as well. I'll have to change some code, but it isn't a big deal. Hour's work tops.

There is limited room. 5-10 people I would say. But where else can you get free advertisement for yourself AND potential adsense bucks?

What isn't funny to you, might be hilarious to someone else. By-and-large I've had good feedback on the 2 comics up now. I realize it isn't for everyone. Which is why I want 'different'. These comics are shooting for the simplest of people. Without a lot of complexity and with a good bit of low-class humor.

I want to, and will have more 'grown up' stuff too. Including a nice chunk of really obscure/dorky/nerdy stuff. And a good bit of really snooty only-funny-to-intellectuals type stuff...

And not just humor. I plan to get some serious things in there too. Long-running comic-book type stuff.

Blimey. I wont be able to look Mario in the face again.

Obviously - it would be silly to imply otherwise. After all, the Police Academy movies made it to number 7...

The whole thing with mario is a rip on all the web-comics and flash-movies that star mario doing something very not mario. Like being a Don. Killing people. Being gay. Mario-matrix Mario-v-Sonic and so on.

So I plan to have lots and LOTS of marios in various capacities.

And yes. Mario looks like ron jeremy. That tickles me endlessly.

Back in my video retail days, I worked in a video store that had a "back room" with movies that starred the likes of Ron Jeremy.

I seem to recall a pr0n parody that came out around the time that the Super Mario Bros. movie came out, and he was in it.

Dampe... It's a cool site, however, I kinda get the vibe that you're trying to be an "edgy version of Penny Arcade".

That's fine, but when you start putting adult situations and "offensive" material in it, you're going to lose the office cubical crowd that has made Penny Arcade a success. (In other words, I couldn't in all confidence read your comic at work with fear of who might be reading it over my shoulder and take offense to it)

Heck.. I have elementary school-aged children, so I have to be careful if I were to look at it at home as well.

Here's a suggestion if you're looking for feedback:
Perhaps a good compromise would be to do the pixelated blurry censoring region if you have to portray nudity. Since it's pixelated, you might even be able to work that into the joke somehow...

I just added black bars to the latest comic. I'll censor out nudity at least for a while.. depends who ends up visiting the site most often

Also.. I don't want to be like penny arcade.. They do a lot of different things, so it is hard NOT to do things like them... even serious things. But beyond having games in it, and being a web-comic.. This will ultimately find it's own spot.

I think you're kind of guaranteed to get some sort of opinion, when you post a thread like this. If you don't want any feedback (good and bad), then you shoudn't have posted the thread.

Also.. What I said was good, wasn't positive. It was asking me to change something. It was, however, well thought up and ultimately persuasive enough to make me make the change.

Can anyone explain the jokes for me?

Many web-comics and flash animations like to recycle the same characters over and over. Or they make up completely retarded characters. The Audition is a bust on that.

For example: Captain Ballerina. Completely moronic character.

The joke isn't so much the characters. As it is the entire situation. But the characters are designed to strike various funny-bones. If they don't hit yours, that isn't unexpected.

That is the real joke.

The black bars thing is lame. Either you are "edgy and controversial" or you're not. For you to make references to Ron Jeremy and "boobies", and yet put bars up to make it suitable for younger viewers, just comes across as weak.

Don't see the point of this website.

I meant it isn't unexpected that you don't think the characters are funny, because they are really only funny to some people. Which is EXACTLY the point. Since that is what 99% of new web-comics are like.

They have a once-funny set of characters that might be mildly humorous, but in the end they are just worthless.

Or. In the case of Soup-Toes they are just obvious rip-offs of other popular characters.

the next audition will have more rip-off characters. A strong-bad-like character, and some penny-arcade characters... As well as more marios.. since every other web-comic/flash animation is based on mario.
