Yay - we're back!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Yay - we're back!

Hi all,

Sorry about the downtime, things should be back to normal now.

My parents are sending a bill for the furniture I chewed.

and what was the cause? :)

A server cable that was being chewed on? :P

blitzmax.com is working for me, but blitzbasic.com still fails -- DNS resolution fails with a 'Couldn't find server 'ns1.blitzbasic.com' error

and what was the cause? :)
Maybe Function Forum() left out a Return ;)

FWIW, they both work here (and synchmods working again, too).

Our hosts changed the DNS IP on us without warning!

great. can you drop this site once a week for a day or so. I finally got some coding done!

blitzbasic.com will be down from thursday at 3:00 until friday at 5:00. This is to give the addicted forum members time to actually program something...

Haha I agree with you there bradford

LOL thats actually a *good* idea :-)

and thanks for letting us know Mark. Nice one host!

It took you 2 days to notice?! :P

Phew! I was thinking BRL had jacked it in and gone awol for a moment!

:D I'm so glad .. I was almost considering rehab.

yay

I was glad that google mirrors all sites - I had to do some search on forums, without it I would be dead in shoes :D

yipee !! :)

Actually -- DNS server IP's (ns1.blitzbasic.com and ns2.blitzbasic.com in this case) have to be registered explicitely with the rootservers. Any modification to the IP of a DNS server itself can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the rootservers.

So... 2 days until a fix is typical rather than unusual. :-?

I hope you gave them a good thrashing!

Yahoo! Seriously.

I think there should be a backup server.

I actually thought that I had been banned for talking to much.

The server didn't go down. The IP address got changed by their ISP. And it takes up to 48 hours for that change to filter out - that's how t'internet works.

Okay, so it's still something that can be dealt with, but if your ISP doesn't tell you that the IP address is changing, you can't do diddly about it.
