Make an old pc a fileserver called docs and then you can access the share from alowed pcs using \\docs\ or map as netwrk drive using my computer.
Youcan then allow wether users can overwrite or just read them.

Hey wait I'm a CDIA and I can sell you a copy of Docuware
but first I think I should do an analysis of your business
processes and see what kind of documents you will need to
put in the DM system as well as any OCR and external databases
you intend to use for indexing. Then we can move on to
document workflow within your organization to add
acccountability and ensure your documents and business
process is expedited with the accountability. I think you
can count on an ROI in a reasonable amount of time. The
whole system should give you room for a great amount of
growth without having to hire any new employees to handle
a greater workload. From there we can begin to incorporate
more of your business workflows into the DM possibly
allowing you to repurpose people in your organization to
more profitable possitions.

there are over 1500 DM Systems available commercially
from the free to the $100 to hundreds of thousands of
dollars like documentum.

If you consider that you are replacing a few warm bodies
and those salaries won't be needed any more in the
organization a $60,000 document management system will
pay for itself in a year.
