TV3D with Blitzmax?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/TV3D with Blitzmax?

Hi,

Is TV3D working with blitzmax ?

You could try this

Yep, TV3D is working with BlitzMax thanks to Gabriel.

C# and TV3D is also a good combination.

Thanks guys... seems a little old now, 5 months? also $150 is actually quite expensive for the 3D I have in mind. I will look at mini b3d too as it seems good for goofing around and prototyping.

I just tried Gabriel's 'lite' wrapper with the latest TV6.5 build date 17/12/2006 and the samples are producing a fair few build errors. I'm assuming the lite demo is not up to date?

The wrapper is for an older build as the new build of TV3D 6.5 broke anything that required shaders. The Devs at TV3D have updated all the other available dll's except the GCC/MinGW version.

We've been promised for months now that they will sort out the GCC/MinGW version but have as yet to see any updates.

Hmm that's not good... so technically TV3D with bmax is a currently a bit of a no go then?

With the current version, yes. If you have an the november DLL's and wrapper then it will be OK. If you don't have the dll's you can contact Sylvain or Darqshaow and they will provide them to you.

IF you don't want to wait then just fire up C#, add the dll's as a reference and away you go. :)

In fact, they haven't. They haven't fixed any version. It works as well with BMax as with any other language. Which is not very well.

I've advised anyone using TV to go back to the Nov version. Anyone who buys TV can get the Nov version as Amon already said.

EDIT: To be fair to the TV developers, they never intended to have a BlitzMax version, and they can't make TV work with BlitzMax themselves, they rely on others ( me ) to do it.

My wrapper works well. It's not perfect, there may still be bugs, but I use huge chunks of the TV API in my game and have no problems, so the wrapper is pretty good. I don't say that as a boast, it's just a fact that I needed this wrapper to be good in order to make a game, so anyone who uses it benefits from my strict requirement.

The shader bug has ( for whatever reason ) affected me worse than most people. The workaround which works for many doesn't work for me. So I can't rebuild the module for the latest version because I can't test anything to make sure it works. So although I am pretty peeved that they haven't released a fix, I do have some sympathy with them because it's not a pressing matter for everyone.

I'd want to TV3D 6.5 officially out , I've waited since early 2006..

And you'll probably be waiting for a long while yet...

I's indeed long, although I'm playing around 2D only, so I have time to wait.

I DO want to know what's wrong with TV3D 6.5...

Ah thanks. Seems like TV3D is not for me then.

From what you've said of your requirements, I'd agree it's probably not for you.
