Addicted to online games?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Addicted to online games?
I have a friend who's addicted to World of Warcraft. I'm glad I'm not addicted to that!
And now I'm off to play some Counterstrike.
it's pretty clear the key to this isn't to stop all together, but being able to control the time you spend playing.
It's the same for anything in life. Even eating, spend too much time eating junk and you get fat, recognise this and control it and you'll be fine. Same with alcohol, watching TV, buying PC upgrades. Whatever takes your fancy. You just need to control it.
I play WoW myself, but have it under control, it doesn't affect my work, and I find time for other activities (which don't involve computers), I also keep up an active social life (in RL), and have a girlfriend (although she plays WoW too).
I have no Girlfriend, no social life, I don't go out, I eat too much, I smoke heavily so I think I'm perfectly suited to addiction to onlione games. :)
go for it! you're the perfect candidate for a guild leader. Think of it, a whole army of nerds at your command!
Didn't you get your little motor bike yet Amon? I can't believe that you got that and don't have either a social life or a girlfriend! :P

Lol, that's great.
I won't go near World of WarCrack.

Except for the last two I could say the same... because I have a WIFE and two kids - and the two kids takes a heavy toll on our social life and we don't have the time nor energy to go out either as much as we used to... ;P
Luckily WoW is the last thing that comes to my mind if I/we get some freetime from our daily life and grind!
Regarding the 'No Girlfriend' statement I made. Does my right hand count as a Girlfriend? :D

I actually have a CAL CS:Source match tonight! Where do you regular sswift?
I don't play Source, I play the old CS. I find Source's controls to be mushy, the feedback nonexistent, and the flashbangs annoying. It's pretty though.
But when playing CS, (as ThePenisMightier) I spend most of my time on #Pork-Cheese ScoutzKnives (207.210.236.72:27015), [420] Clan Server (24/7 Dust2) (8.9.36.106:27015), and 24/7 Dust2 Chicago (8.9.36.210:27015). I'm not in any clans.
I'm sure you just read that wrong. :-)
Its a good thing I have a short attention span and tend to gravitate to jump-in-and-fight type games. Otherwise, I'd still be playing that Vanguard Saga of Heroes game....
I learned that CS:S (I never played much CS so am ignorant to how much better it is) is only good if I play it in short bursts, because otherwise I get driven crazy by the annoyingly obsessive idiots that keep wanting to play Dust and Office, and who have a ridiculous fear of any unofficial content. (Really, they don't seem to get it: CS was BUILT on unofficial work! Maps like Gambaru kick Office's ass, and rightly so).
If idiots didn't discover the Internet maybe I would be addicted to CS, but thanks to them I can only stand it in short bursts.
So there's the solution: If you want to avoid people getting addicted to an online game, find a way such that they idiots can annoy everyone else.
I only play CS in short bursts. I can only stand listening to constant gunfire for a half hour or so. :-) That's why I play scoutsknives a lot, there's a lot less shooting there, and accuracy counts a lot more.
Hm... Here is a good example of the kind of weirdly crazy behaviour we need:
