Don't go to bed - possile S.T.A.L.K.E.R. leak
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Don't go to bed - possile S.T.A.L.K.E.R. leak
I am eagerly awaiting S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I heard that a while ago there was a beta leak of it. Anyway, I was just searching for tools for 'No One Lives for Ever' when I spotted a suspicious thread - entitled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - it contains 5 downloads (ie it is in 5 parts) - I have started the first one which is 95MB (packed).
This could be incredibly exciting. Might be a leak of a demo - As far as I know there was no demo planned prior to release - however, this is clearly not a full game product so must be some sort of beta/demo - considering it is going to be in the region of 400-500MB (packed).
This is a game I cannot wait to buy - and if this is some kind of demo that is out early then I shall be most happy.
So you chastize publicly people who download illegal copies of Blitz and then advertize that you're trying to do the exact same thing with a different piece of software? Granted the chances are you're downloading a 500mb virus, but it's the intent that has me curious.
No, no - I just unpacked the first archive - definetley seems genuine.
Don't think it is a full game - there isn't enough data - this is probably some kind of demo or beta.
However, this is a game I shall be buying regardless. This is not a full-game leak though.
Let's hope it is a demo and that there is a demo on the way and that everyone can play it.
Lots of people would give their right arm to play a demo of this.
Wait a minute - the internet is dripping with this - it is called:
Shadow of Chernobyl Build 2215
They even have it on 'gamespot'. Seems to have been out for a month now.
Well googling "Shadow of Chernobyl Build 2215", the third page down is called "Download Best Warez", so I think I'll stick with my original assessment.
It appears to be the demo of the game - as far as I can see.
not official demo but confirmed by developers to be released for fans
Apparantly.
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

Woof, woof!
On the FilePlanet page
ONLY DOWNLOAD IF YOU HAVE A BETA KEY!.
And the wonderful irony of your previous quote. It's from a Russian Blog complete with a download link hosted on a Russian server.
It's bloody multiplayer.
I don't like multiplayer.
How bent is that - it is a multiplayer demo.
I'm still going to have a go on it - just need to find a BETA key. Maybe there is one in the final download.
Are you just going to continually ignore what Gabriel has been saying?
You're doing exactly what you told off others for doing... I suggest you stop.
Eh? It's an official beta.
There's a difference between downloading a full game and a beta.
Plus, this is a game I am buying anyway - so no harm done.
It's like the Oblivion scenario - it was released in the USA a day before the UK and I was prepared to download it to play it in the evening and then buy it in the morning (although, I couldn't find it to download prior to buying it in the morning).
Get help. Seriously.
Here is some videos of it:

Uh yeah it's just a simple multiplayer beta that any Fileplanet subscriber can get access to.
And you guys never heard of STALKER?
http://www.stalker-game.com/en/?page=faq
Eh? It's an official beta.
It's an official CLOSED beta, and you're not on it.
Well, they must have put it on FilePlanet and GameSpot, etc and other places for a reason? A bit of a strange move for a CLOSED-beta. It's hardly a secret if they release it via some of the biggest legal game download sites in the world.
If you don't know what a closed beta means, go look it up. It has nothing to do with being secret.
Well, too late I ran it. There is nothing to do - you can just wander around a few small levels - it is very Half-Life 2 looking.
It never asked for this BETA key thing.
There's 4 levels to choose from but there are no monsters or anything, it is just you wandering about.
Nothing much to report really - it will hardly excite anyone.
Great. We can all sleep easy now, eh?
You should probably user your 'edit' button more often. I find your multi-posting antics/conversations with yourself somewhat irritating.
Amazon is accepting pre-orders for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for quite a while now and the official shipping date is March 23, 2007. So just use your credit card and wait a few more days until the postman rings at your door to bring you the real thing.
Why not read up on the game a bit before downloading an old, crappy, multiplayer demo (illegally might I add), before dismissing it? I'm sure there will be plenty of media for you to rip and steal once it's released.
Man, am I sick of him.
The new date is March 6th actually..
Good on ya Puki - we love ya.
Lay off Puki, if it were not for him this game would never have existed in all likely hood...
I was a tester on this game years ago for about a month. I have a copy of the last build that I tested. It's very early. It's a multiplayer map with poorly textured creatures running around that play tag with you (They run up to you until they touch you then all they do is run away until you touch them and so on and so forth..). The lighting and controls are great though...
[Update]
So I contacted a buddy of mine who is still testing the game and he says that the latest build only has two and a half hours of single player game play. He also said the latest buzz around the office is that THQ might drop the title.
[Additional Info]
If any of you want to test some of the shizey games that I worked on bleed your eyes out on:
Scooby Doo: Mystery Mayhem (PS2,XB,GC)
Fairly Odd Parents: Breakin Da Rules(PS2,XB)
There are plenty of other games that I tested but those two are the steamiest piles that should be noted first.
OMG :O sounds like you need some kevlar puki :P
Here, get kitted up, i think this is gonna be a long one :

Bye
@IKG:
Man, am I sick of him
why read his thread then?
I still don't get the argument.
Thousands of people visit places like FilePlanet (a legal site) and will have seen the download link and gone ahead and downloaded it.
You'd have to be a weirdo to think it was wrong to do it. Since when was FilePlanet a restricted site to members?
So, anybody who thinks I was wrong to download it is clearly a weirdo.
Any more weirdos want to step out of their weird little world into this thread?
I can't see what is all the fuss about. It's yet another boring FPS game. Nothing to write home about.
Barney
Where's a link to that Russian Blitz site? I wanna see if
they're getting a chuckle out of this. If they've already
seen this thread, I bet they're on the ground laughing.
Sorry Puki, but you can see the irony, right?
March 6? Amazon still says March 23. Wouldn´t mind to get it earlier, though.
I only hope that it lives up to its promise. Half-Life 2 certainly didn´t meet the expectations, but maybe we have more luck with the long over-due STALKER.
And if not, They Hunger:Lost Souls might hit the shelves somewhen this century... And Neil Manke and his team never disappointed me. Good old-fashioned Zombie-slaughtering. What can possibly be wrong with that? :-)
If Half-Life 2 didn't live up to your expectations, I'd imagine you have retardedly high expectations from things and nothing ever lives up to them.
You could always wait for Duke Nukem Forever.
How bout this logic. Puki likely created a good percentage of the theory that the game is based on. Therefore. He should be credited on the project. He is not, so it is only fair that he get to steal it's beta.
Who gives a flying crap anyway - nobody accused anybody of stealing a beta of Blitz.
It's not like stealing a game - it isn't the game - it's just a beta/demo. The fact that they chose to upload it on places like FilePlanet is only asking for trouble anyway.
It's no different than BRL uploading a beta of Max3D on FilePlanet and saying it is only for official beta testers. I bet non-beta testers would download it. If BRL complained that non-beta testers were using it then everyone would say it was stupid to put it out on public download servers.
DampeS8N: "Retardly high expectations..." Nice phrase, William. Maybe your expectations are just retardly low, so that some fancy graphics engine is all that you need to find a game great.
HL2 was a lame sequel to HL1 - it neither had a story that it was worth mentioning nor did it have the dense atmosphere of its prequel or any innovative game elements besides the gravity gun.
Compared to what Crytek did at the same time with FarCry, HL2 could only score with its (much) better character animation.
And then there was Doom 3 in that year, too - basically also only a lame sequel with just a bunch of nice graphics, but at least it created an extremely dense atmosphere with its awesome audio effects.
HL1, when it came out, was way ahead of its competetion and brought a revolution to the genre. So the expectations for HL2 were extraordinarily high, but I don't think that this is the reason why it failed. They thought the fancy graphics would be enough, while obviously others (namely: CryTek) were able to deliver and push the genre to the next level.
And that's the end of the discussion for me and more answer than I would usually give to a rude post like yours. I hope you can take the echo.
Anyone who knows anything about me know I don't give 2 shakes about graphics. I enjoyed the physics based gameplay, cutscene-less story, and creative puzzles (for an FPS) of Half-life 2.
I wasn't expecting the best game ever. I was expecting a great game. I got a great game.
Also.. It was impossible for HL2 to live up to HL1... after all. Starcraft, HL1, and Zelda: Ocarina of time are candidates for "Best game of all time" and they all came out at about the same time.
You can't beat 1998.
That said. HL2 was still lightyears ahead of all the other shooters in it's same time-frame.. I can't believe you even lumped it in with Doom 3... Which sucked ass.
Also.
I didn't like Farcry.. it forced me to play it the way it wanted.. which means I died like every 2 min and had to save a billion times. I didn't get through the first section of the game before I stopped playing it.
I'm sure it went on to be great, but I couldn't be bothered to figure out how the game wanted me to do things... Seeing as it suggested itself as open ended and more free-form.
I'm sure it went on to be great,
It didn't... I played through till virtually the end, but I never really enjoyed it. It passed the time on a boring day and it only cost £5 so I can't really complain, I guess.
I don't see why "Hard" and "You Die A Lot" mean the same thing so often. Can't things be harder without meaning more death/load?
Whilst I wasn't too impressed with HL2 when I first played it, in hindsight it's been one of the best FPS shooters in the last two years. And that's really not saying much.
The Source engine still has much to offer.
I dunno how this thread turned intoa HL2 discussion, but I
just have to reply to winni.
Dampes8n:
I can't believe you even lumped it in with Doom 3
Exactly. You should be able to tell the difference in quality
between a game like HL2 and a game like Doom 3. Let me
compare the two games as if they were drinks:
Half Life 2 would be a fine wine - Boot up Lost Coast or
Episode 1 and turn on the commentary. You'll see that these
guys design their games with an incredible fidelity and
knowledge base.
Doom 3 would be sugar water - Sure it tastes sweet and it's
a cheap thrill, but there's obviously not much else
considered besides the sugar rush. There's less consideration
put into the design and the game lacks any substance.
Winni, when you said
(Half life 2) failed. They thought the fancy graphics would be enough
You revealed yourself to be very uninformed about the
subject, sorry man.
farcry... (I) had to save a billion times
How?
How what? All I remember is that I died a lot.. I only played about an hour... if "How" is cause you can't save mid level.. well.. I'm sure that was the last straw.
All I did was Die, Die, Die, Die, Die.
So I gave up and moved on to games that were fun to play.
