How to do Amiga 1200 AMOS Pro Screen Dumps?

Having retrieved my Amiga 1200 from its 15 year spell in the loft, I would like to create some IFF screen files of various games/utilities written in AMOS Pro (for conversion to PC via Blitz/VB). Unfortunately I cannot remember how to perform a screen dump on the Amiga while running the AMOS Pro interpreter (or from Workbench for that matter!). Does anyone know how to do this?

I would also be grateful if anyone could remind me how to format a 720KB disk for use with CrossDos?

PS: It's amazing that after 15 hot summers and damp winters, the 1200 powered up first time with no errors - with all installed software running perfectly. If only my PC was as reliable...

Very vague memory at work here:

1) Didn't AMOS Pro have a SaveIFF command?

2) I think after launching crossdos the main drive can be accessed via PC0: to read PC disks. Formatting can be done inside windows with Format A: /f:720 - Again, I remember something vague regarding if you don't have any double density disks then you tape over the hole on a High density disk to fool the drive into formatting it.

I could be talking a load of nonsense, but thats all that springs to mind about Amiga and crossdos. It's been far too many years to be accurate and fresh :)

If my memory serves me correct, you need to have

First you need to have CrossDOS mounted;
1. The CrossDOS filesystem in "libs:"
2. and CrossDOS.device must be in "devices:".
3. Then the "mountfile" should have something about MS0:, alternativley the CrossDos device must be in s subfolder of Deives so it can be mounted at boottime.

Now format a disk (workbench 3.1);
1. Open the Utilities drawer in workbench, there should be something like a CrossDOS drawer, with Format util.

AMiGA those were the days :).

I think I used UAE to get some of my Amos sources out.. but how on earth I got the initial setup where I basicly had my amiga HD cloned to under UAE... hmm.. either I connected the hd to my PC or I used somesort of serial connection Twin..something. Sorry I cant remember more :/

this makes me want to get my amiga out too... mine's got a hard drive! 80 meg for 200 quid, bargain!

Thanks guys. I must admit that I had completely forgotten the 'Save Iff' command! I have now successfully created and transfered files from 1200 to PC - and invested in a PCMCIA Compact Flash Adaptor via Amigakit.com to ease the process in the future.

Whilst playing, I discovered my installation of Blitz Basic 2.1 (the *ULTIMATE* edition no less - supplied on CD-ROM!) - seems quite an unwieldy beast after the relative ease of Blitz3D and BlitzMax - no wonder I only ever completed a few of the projects I started! (Mind you - compared to AMOS, GFA Basic and AmigaBasic, I considered it the bee's knees at the time: windows; gadgets; blitter objects. It also came with a massive printed manual as standard. Aaah - those really WERE the days!)
