I've decided to fork over the cash for a paid web host, and I'm havign a hard time finding a good one because I can't find a good site I can trust that rates them. One site I found rated ixwebhosting as their number one, and they do seem pt be cheap and provide lots of bandwith and space, but then I searched on their name and found lots of complaints from people. So I don't know if the review site is a plant from them or what.
Anyone have suggestions for a good web host?

If you want to use MySQL do NOT use GoDaddy, it'll make your site crawl like it's loading off an old commodore 64 cassette.

I just opened all the websites suggested above, and the first thing I noticed was a big difference in how fast the sites which were mostly text loaded. I've ordered them here roughly from fastest to slowest:

A bit more info on powweb. The package you get is absolutley packed with features. You get instant installers, phpmyadmin, your own ssl certificate if you want to accept credit cards via your site and a ton more.
Plus. in the 4 years I've been with them I truley have only noticed downtime of about 15 minutes, in the whole 4 years.
There service just keeps getting better and better.

It's $9 a month for 1gb and 25gb transfer. Not sure where you got that info from?
As for powweb - if you fill up the 300gb of space and use 3000gb transfer in one month they'll cut you off. In fact you'll get cut off a lot sooner before you reach that limit - No way in hell can you genuinely use that much for only $6

What evidence do you have for that claim? I used to cut their old bandwidth limits pretty close and they've never said a word, nor has the site slowed down.
I think he's just generalizing. Most places exaggerate the amount of bandwidth/space you get to get your business. That's why they advertise "unlimited" bandwidth when that is clearly impossible to deliver. Many ISP's even will tell you have "ublimited" access and yet still write you letters threatending to shut you down if you're using significantly more than an average user.

You can get a trial webspace to test their webinterfaces nd speed.

Well since two people here have used it for a long time without issues, and they seem to provide the most space and bandwidth, and because they allow multiple domain hosting on one account, and provide a free domain registration to new users, and because my tests indicated they were fas, and not unpopular, I've gone ahead and purchased a year's worth of hosting with PowWeb.
I've just got done using the web interface to switch my domains over to them. It wasn't painful, except that I had to change the dns servers on godaddy and aplus to point there, and their web interfaces are less than clear. (I had to search around a page full of information just to figure out where to login on godaddy.)
I'll let you know how it goes. I anticipate that the service will at least be more reliable and faster than the free hosting I was using that went down in the middle of my vacation. And that's all I really want.

The reason I can do this is cause with powweb, for another couple bucks a month (or free if you know how to write .htaccess stuff), you can host as many domains on on your allocated bandwidth and space as you want.
