Domain names and IP addresses..

To anyone who might know, if I registered a domain name like fullergames.com (for example) would it be possible to link that domain name to my own computers IP address so when someone types in the domain, they are actually accessing the Apache server running on my PC?

Yep, usually the company hosting the domain will allow you to specify the IP address to which a domain name should represent.

You'll need to set up DNS on your own machine and have the registar point to your machines IPs.

Most DNS services will let you change the DNS A records as you see fit.

Your IP may be non-static, so you would have to change the settings at your nic domainname provider each time you reset the connection. Probably better use one of those services that allow to redirect a nonstatic IP to a static IP.

Most of the larger domain registration companies will offer free DNS with a domain registration, so you can use their DNs servers to point to your own static IP.
