I want to keep one of those Western Digital My Book hard drives with me at all times and sync it to my notebook day to day for HD loss protection. What's the optimal solution for hard drive syncronization backups? Is it even possible to do something like this? The way I'm thinking is that it would work like a CVS repository. Any insight/opinions would be great.

It's possible of course, but what program to use is another thing because there's billions of them... ghosting the drive is bit extreme, so file-backup/syncing apps are probably the right way to do it. We use Perforce at work but that's bit extreme for home use too.
I really should get one too for syncing the files/directories between my home PC, laptop and work PC... so if anyone has any experience (bad or good) please let us know.
This one for example seems good: 5 seats (you need at least 2 if you have two PCs to sync...) and it works even on Vista - good thing if you have mixed OS'es on your PCs you need to sync. But I have not used it so don't really know if it's any good.

It also does drive cloning, for when you move to a bigger HD. I've got in running now on my laptop, my wife's desktop and laptop, and on my MIL's new laptop.
