Animated people stuff - RPG/medieval too!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Animated people stuff - RPG/medieval too!

I was nosing about over at TGC in the 3D forum:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=94697&b=3

I want these.

There is actually several pages of stuff - I only read the first page.

God, I must get my hands on this stuff - I really must.

The ETA for these is Spring.

I can't wait - I'm cold-turkey already. I can't wait a couple of months - Jesus, I'm not made of wood.

I'm cold-turkey already.
If only. I could feed you to the cat.
I'm not made of wood
Again... if only.... :D

.. I'm confused GFK. If he was made of wood, what would you do with him?

If he was made of wood, what would you do with him?
Nothing. He just wouldn't be able to type. ;)

Working, usable normal maps would be SO good to have...

I'm getting the feeling, if I can negotiate Blitz versions of these, that they will not look as good as the FPSC ones.

Also, I'm getting suspicious over what kind of poly-count these things are going to weigh in at - especially, when you have a few dozen Larging about in camera view.

However, I looked at one of the licences for his previous FPSC packs:

The Models are in Direct X format, each textured with a .DDS texture, some with multiple variations, built specifically for the FPSC engine, .3DS models can be obtained upon request

License:
You are subject to do whatever you want with the models, put them in any game, commercial or not. although it was originally built for FPSC, you can use them in any engine you wish, for any cause, the only exception is you may not redistribute the contents of the pack without my permission.

Look at the licence, look at it - STARE AT IT!!!

Isn't it great? I love this guy - I want him.

Oh no - The above info is for another guy posting in that thread - it isn't the same guy.

Sniffing-hell.

I need to move quick on this and post on their forums that he ought to match the licence of his mate.

Ugh - horribly, horribly bland and cliched models. Where's the originality? The personality? Maybe I'm alone here, but these look awful to me. They're technically competent, for sure, but that's the only thing they've got going for them.

What, WHAT WHAT?

The problem here is you cannot buy this kind of stuff - they are virtually unique as a pack.

This sort of thing has existed for years in commercial computer games - but you can't just pop onto the internet and buy this kind of stuff - it's utterly, UTTERLY rare - especialy at the prices they are going to charge.

You should read the thread, Puki. The bloke did a wizard which he said was "Low poly, 5800 triangles" and another one, some crusader/knight, which was in the 3000+ tris.

I read through it all out just to marvel at the modelling and texturing. It wouldn't look so good in Blitz because what they're showing is DX9 normal mapping, etc. Dunno if Blitz supports those other maps either (specular, etc).

Every fantasy RPG has to have a wizard.

bland and cliched models. Where's the originality? The personality?

True but aren't contents pack kinda for generic "filler" stuff?

Still, I have Dark Basic Pro - so I can go either way - I am multi-Large.

However, I shall do my best to negotiate Blitz friendly stuff.

Fantasy != dwarves, wizards, elves, goblins and buxom wenches.

I love fantasy RPG stuff - it allows me to stay in my own little imaginary world (just me and my imaginary friends) - I only leave every so often to post here and go to the shops, etc.

Fair enough, but if you broadened your fantasy horizons you'd have a far richer and varied imaginary world to play in. :)

We have an emergency and impending crisis:

Someone has suggested:

This will be an official TGC model pack, so most likely the usual restriction will apply.

I have countered this with:

Yeh, but "John Fletcher's" licence suggest it doesn't have to be that way - ie it isn't with his stuff.

If this is going to be FPSC only - then how about a non-FPSC pack at a higher price?

Personally, I think these guys should be posting this stuff all over the place - lots of programming forums. That's what BasilStudio did - they advertised their stuff everywhere they could think off.

Forget TGC licensing here, think of the money to be made from a freely-available pack.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!

TGC have a separate forum for FPSC models and media:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_read&i=24

This must mean this pack will be available for use outside FPSC.

I feel a victory for the Large here. I smell those models stampeding in my direction.

The great thing here is this thing is already splitting TGC's customers as most of them are Dark Basic users and only some are FPSC.

Stands to reason I shall emerge victorious.

Arm held aloft - I acknowledge the roaring cheers of the guests who come to this site every day just to see me.

This guy is really good:

I insist that all Blitz users rush to buy this pack when it is released. Let's face it - I am going to buy it and you wouldn't want me to continue to be better than all of you would you? Let's face it - I have all the best media - who can match me? Who can come close to my dominance? Is it possible to match my blatant dominance over even commercial developers?

Some Blitzers can produce their own quality media, and no quantity of bought or ripped media can ever match that.

The words "dominated" and "outmatched" suddenly spring to mind... :p

But, anyway, I do hope that you manage to get hold of these models, and that you have lots of fun with them.

One of the TGC mods is backing this - I'm sure a couple of them did over the Aliencodec stuff - oooh, I smell victory. We are raising an army.

I wonder if it's possible to make a living just making stuff and selling it to puki?

I haven't signed any type of contract yet for these models, obviously I'd like them to be aimed at FPSC, and also at FPSC X10 when it launches around April.

But it would also be in my best interest to get these out to as wide of an audience as possible, and personally I have no problem whatsoever how these models are used. But I would have to talk to TGC about this, hopefully there can be compromise. Some stock FPSC models are available on Turbosquid individually, so I know that TGC is be open to the idea, but I'd like to offer them at a competitive price as well to folks not using FPSC or DBPro too.

Sit on my Large!
