Any Vue users? (Vue Easel/Esprit) etc

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Any Vue users? (Vue Easel/Esprit) etc

I have noticed that a lot of 3D file converters no longer support Vue VOB files. Must be a bit like the 3D Max issue.

I was wondering if the Vue products allow you to load in a VOB and then export to 3DS, etc?

However, forget about what the Vue products are designed to do. I am talking about loading in a static VOB and then purely exporting it straight out - basically to use a VUE product as an exporter/converter.

Mmm, in fact I think I have the answer:

Vue 6 Infinite and Vue 6 xStream seem to be the only 2 Vue roducts that can do this.

Plus, those 2 are the only ones that can export scenes as well.

The reason for all this excitement?

That place is full of high-quality and cheap models in VOB formats.

The prices are USD so I get everything for half price.

Look! some are even FREE!

Oh, yeh.

Wait a minute - it's going to cost me £300+ to buy Vue 6 Infinite.

I'm being screwed here - these models are peanuts to buy but I have to spend a fortune just to steal them.

puki the thing with VUE trees and bushes is that they are 'grown' in the application so that you don't just get the same posed tree everytime you plonk one down on the ground. I too would really love to be able to export from VUE the trees and things so that I can use them in XSI but with Vue 5 Easel which I have that is not possible although I am after hi polygon models whereas you seem to want the low poly stuff.

I am talking about 3rd party stuff (buildings and stuff) designed to load into Vue - I want to steal them.

I purely want to load stuff in and just export it straight out.

Puki,

I wouldn't bother, they are mostly hi polygon count - most use procedural textures (although not all), and you could spend a lot of time getting no where. A lot of the stuff is cheaper because it has copy protection on it, meaning it won't load elsewhere.

Some models - a lot of the Cornucopia ones - do allow you to export them with textures, but the results aren't that good.

PS I have Vue 5 and 6 Infinite.
