Vista gaming benchmarks.

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Vista gaming benchmarks.

It's not as slow as I thought, only a fraction slower this early in the game.

Oooh.

However, the excitement will be when Crysis is released - it will be a case of how much better a game is in DX10 compared to DX9 - especially on the 'visual' (graphics) side of things.

I want Vista and DX10 because as of late I've become enthralled with Flight Simulator X ... and apparently it's designed for Vista and DX10. It runs like utter crap on my 3200+ with GeForce 7800 card!

Lots of benchmarks here:

On the same hardware? I doubt you'll notice.

As for being a better game than FarCry, I'd certainly hope so. It would be tragic if it wasn't better than one of the worst FPS games ever.

No, I mean DX10 versus DX9 hardware - I am wondering if the difference is going to be enough to make people want to move to DX10.

Crysis is clearly a blatant AAA product developed with DX10 showcasing in mind - but then what about the stuff that follows? I want a good excuse to go back to DX10 - considering my leap to a DX10 system was ill-fated.

Wait a minute - where is Crysis? I thought it was being held up by the Vista delay - it was supposed to be a launch title. I want to jolly-well know where it jolly-well is.

It is coming out in the summer. Well, I'm glad I sent my DX10 system back now - what's the point in buying a system a month or so prior to Vista and Crysis when the maggoty thing is coming out 6 months later.

Thank you God that my DX10 system arrived faulty.

In fact, I am bloody annoyed by this now. I bought that DX10 system to play Crysis - If the system had not have arrived faulty then I would still have it now and be waiting 6 months to play a DX10 game.

I mean what is the point of DX10 if you can't actually use it. I mean really, what is going on.

Still, I have bloody gained out of this - when I buy my DX10 system in the summer, I'll have a better system for my money.

I think some people will move out of principle. For most people tho' the marginal visual gain is not going to be worth the price of admission, for at least a year or two.

Most people are pragmatic customers, not enthusiasts.

I dont get it, why do they need to cram it full of eye candy. if they ditched all the fading crap, gradients, antialiased everything it would free up so much for the bits that matter:
Apps and Games :)

Eachtime a breakthrough in hardware is met, the OS makers see it as an opportunity to chew up this new found power with pointless nicknacks & animated guff that just annoys most serious users.

The only ones who seem to enjoy it are people like bored secrataries, who just love the sniffing dog finding the the letter theyve lost.

I say sod the dog, just concentrate on finding my bloody doc!!!

Far Cry on the PC was one of the best FPS ever. I prefered it to HL2, doom 3, quake 4, COD2. It was great, the Xbox version was dumbed down too much but had some nice special abilities and the ability to set traps to lure the bad guys into.

What I liked about farcry was that it was not as linear with AI that was fairly dynamic. It allowed you to experiment and use a variety of stealth and sniping skills.

One of the best FPS games ever, I can't wait for Crysis. I'll be getting Vista within the next couple of months most likely. It runs office apps and general desktop stuff much better than XP on my ageing PC. I'll upgrade when my beta version expires most likely.

Well, even if DX10 games aren't out, apparently the 8800 cards are lightning fast for everything else DX9 and below. Would be a good upgrade for people playing current stuff at very high resolutions.

I read the new flight sim runs crap on everything, it was tested with a dual 8800 and still ran like crap.
