Finished Game needs music...
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Finished Game needs music...
I've just finished my latest game and I'm stuck on doing the music. I always leave it to last and I just can't do it. Is there anyone here who could make me some music for my game?
It's quite a dark and atmospheric puzzle/action game set inside an egyptian pyramid. I'm very willing to make some 3d models in exchange and I'll add your name/web link to my game ;o)

So you need egyptian style music then? Also ask CS_TBL - if you have allocated a budget. I bet he could do something awesome.
I gook forward to seeing the game. You gonna post it in showcase?
Yep, some dark sounding, gloomy, kind of egyptian style music. My budget for the whole game is $0. I made all of the graphics and edited the sound effects (even recorded some), did all of the programming, and tested everything. I hate doing music, think I'm tone deaf lol
I did find some royalty free music that is *ok*. I'll use that as a last resort. I have a lot more games planned out, guess I'll have to invest in some decent music software this year and learn how to do it properly lol
If you decide to try writing music, try out some of the free programs (start with maybe a tracker program) then maybe look at FL Studio. I use FL Studio all the time now, it's a powerful program yet quite easy to use.
Sonic...
any links please.

The problem with library music is that it often doesn't fit. And if at least one tune fits, then you won't find similar tunes to form an uniformly sounding game.
The problem with DIY is that not everyone can do just everything, for some things you need dedicated people. And if one thinks the game has a certain value, then one should accept that an artist also has a certain pricetag. So, one should balance between 'force a last-minute budget and get a more valuable game' or 'no budget worries, but a possible haunting voice in your head telling you you could've had a better product'.
'ave fun choosing :P
CS_TBL is right...I got some library music for my early games and also worked with a musician for some tracks, but it was hard work to get a semi-consistent feel. However for Oz and Holiday Bonus having a musician make all the music specially themed was awesome.
I agree that it would be better quality etc to have a 'proper' muscian do the music for a game. However, I generally like to do everything myself. This is the first time I've asked for content from someone else in the 7 years I've been making games. Not to worry tho, I'll have a look at the tracker links from b32.
Good luck JA2, no harm in trying yourself. Like anything in life, everyone starts from nothing.
