Photo DVD Software?

My old man wants to create a DVD slideshow of his latest photos. He basically wants to add titles and background music, and maybe some fancy wipes between photos.

Can anyone recommend some Windows software for this? This is not something I've done before, and there appears to be a wealth of producs for this out there... I wouldn't know which solution to buy for him.

Any ideas? Is anything generally regarded as the best for this?

I think "Windows Movie Maker" could do this. Comes free with XP.

NeroVision Express will make a fine job of it. I use it to make wedding album preview DVDs.

It comes as part of Nero.

AFAIK Windows Movie Maker can't encode VOB (Video OBject/DVD) files.
