My keyboard stopped working!I am posting this byClicking characters inCharacter Map And pasting into this post! ahh!I unplugged my tower and hearda pop. now nothing I plug into my ps/2 ports works!Thank God my one mouse uses usb! Most people don't realize, but the PS/2 ports on a PC are not hot pluggable. That means that if you unplug/plug in a mouse while your machine is on, there's a real risk of shorting out (and destroying) the port(s)...
I've seen more than a few boards with popped PS/2 ports over the years. since they are integrated onto the motherboard, that gives you just a couple of options:
1) Get a new motherboard
2) Get a USB keyboard (most of the new ones are, since most of the 'brandname' PC's are phasing out PS/2 altogether)
3) use your existing PS/2 input devices through a USB port with a PS/2->USB converter cable, such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812199008
You can get a new USB keyboard for as low as $10 or so if you look around. But if you like your existing keyboard, you can keep using it through the type of adapter mentioned in #3.
Option #3 is probably the easiest/cheapest.
Now it *could* be that the keyboard itself is dead too, but since you say that 'nothing you plug in' works, the ports themselves are more likely to be the problem.
