Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/FAO: Michael Reitzenstein, author of Inca Quest

Hi Michael, your profile seems to have a website addres that no longer exists, so I'm not sure that you'll get my email to you either...

I wanted to ask you about getting your game, Inca Quest (which is great btw), on www.greyaliengames.com so I hope that you see this message.

If anyone else knows how to contact him, could they please email me. Thanks.

excellent. Thank you.

What does FAO mean?

For the Attention Of

Is FAO like an English thing only then or is swiftyboy uneducated in office protocol ;-)

Actually sswifty uh :http://www.raccoonrocket.com/racoon_freakin.jpg

Think it might be an English-only thing. I posted an FAO here once and was asked the same question.

Grey,

Michael and I did that conversation weeks ago... and I thought he had contacted you by now. He's on MSN most days if I see him I'll mention it again.

IPete2.

Thanks Peter.

Hi Grey,

Thanks for the reminder (I think it must be third such one... hey, I'm lazy!) about my profile.

Replying to your email now.

Cheers,
Michael.

Awww... no more www.quickiegames.com and the venerable Quickie Game Tools?

"Actually sswifty uh"

That's not me!

Who is it then?

Thanks Michael, got it and replied.

Grey:
It's just some guys who happened to write an amusing blog entry about how they removed a raccoon from their chimney:

(Well amusing except the bit where they throw the raccoon at the end.)

I see....toss has connotations in the U.K.

Hah! Okay, I fixed it smartass. :-)

I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass.

No wonder you never get any work done sswifty.

Never get any work done?!

I just finished the game I was working on for Retro64, (still secret so I can't tell you about it.) and I've been making good progress on Alien Space Beetles this week!

...hmm...shouldn't be

rocksolidgame.com???

Haha! Ouch. Promise there'll be more soon...

Hit a raw nerve there, eh, swifty?

So did you write it in C++? I contacted Mike to ask about coding games and he said they only want c++, not BMax :-(

No, it was written in BMax. I started work on it a while ago though, and things may have changed recently.

Send me an email though with an estimate of how much it would cost me, and how long it would take, for you to code something like say, Ice Cream Showdown. Provide examples of how long it took you to do other games you've done.

I don't have the money right now to hire someone, but I should be getting some more in a few months, and I'm definitely considering the possiblity of contracting out the code for some projects. I can only produce one or two games a year by myself.

I'll probably wait and see how profitable Alien Space Beetles is before I decide whether to hire someone else though, since art and music is already taking a gouge out of whatever profits I might make.

Hi sswift. I'm just making a game for BFG at the moment (Retro64's loss..) but hey yeah perhaps we can cook up some synergy in the future. I don't have the time to email you some stuff right now, but let's talk in the future when you've made some money from ASB.

For reference, now I have the framework, games can be made fairly quickly. Oz took 280 hours on top of the framework (which took 250+) and HB took around 200. I keep proper logs so those figures are not estimates. HB involved a lot of talking to the artist and design work rather than coding. You can probably estimate a cost based on what you are prepared to pay * 250 hours. Perhaps ICS would take less time if it had a proper design doc so I could "paint by numbers". Also I'm getting faster each time as my code library and tricks 'n' tactics improve.

wow michael your INCA QUEST is now on TV here in Germany .

It deserves it, it's ace.

Actually Michael deserves the best... he is a great guy.

Thanks very much for the support guys!

Michael should do a BMax remake of Rollerbot.

We have thought about that - but so much to do, so little time, etc.

So is that a yes? :)

Darwin the Monkey looks awesome :)

It's a no... Maybe for fun some time. Sorry :(

Silly: Cheers! Not long now...
