GTA San Andreas - Cops and Gangsters

I have become aware that a number of Russian sites are babbling on about 'GTA San Andreas - Cops and Gangsters'.

Anyone have any info?

Now, I am aware that we should not really be talking about illegal stuff - HOWEVER, I have never heard of 'GTA San Andreas - Cops and Gangsters'. Exactly what is it?

I've heard of "GTA San Andreas" but... the "cops and gangstas" part??? How is this illegal/against forum conduct anyway?

The only official GTA game on the radar is GTA 4, due 19th October on PS3 and X360.

Whatever it is - Russian sites are dripping with it - It only seems to be on Russian sites:

I'd remove that link - I can't read Russian but that looks like a warez site.

Either they have grabbed a surprise release from Rockstar or this is some kind of massive mod.

All Russian-speaking Blitzers are assigned to gathering info and reporting back to me - "puki" - Ministry of Large - AKA King of Blitzland.

Puki - Russia is the warez capital of the world. I wouldn't pay it much attention until you see something outside of Russia.

Maybe the game just had that extra subtitle when it was released in Russia. I mean if they can call Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy in the US, it's hardly a stretch.

It appears to be dated 2007 - their sites are all showing it as something new.

Whatever it is, they seem pretty excited about it.

There seems to be some kind of third party involved - a lot of the sites refer to 'Master Media'. That's hardly a Russian name - there are lots of 'Master Medias' in Google. I am sniffing my way through them.

I'm starting to wonder if this is some kind of modding outfit as they are linked to other unknown GTA stuff - such as Grand Theft Auto Vice City: Myriad Islands.

After a quick search, I found a Russian translated blurb:

That answers that. It is a mod for San Andreas - given the size and the total lack of publicity outside of Russia/warez sites (I checked the most popular GTA forums), I am wagering this is a compilation of the modding scene's work, probably with no credits given to their rightful authors. And probably laden with virii.

Right, I suggest someone download it all, install it, run it then report back.

Well, for this generation of games in that genre, I'd say that Saints Row is the way to go, up until Rockstar blows Volition away later on this year.
