Vector art rules (where've I been?)

I just downloaded Inkscape and got my first taste of actually working with vector graphics. Man, this is fun (I'm loving the calligraphy tool.) I actually whipped up some decent looking stuff - and for me that's quite a feat.

Anyhow, I suppose there's not a huge point to this thread except to urge others who think they have no artistic talent and who haven't messed with vector graphics to check out Inkscape.

I think I'll prototype my website with this program.

yeah its pretty cool, I liked fractal design expression which did some pretty cool natural media with vector art. That was cool and Microsoft had it released for free a few months ago.

Okay, something is wrong with this picture. I am *not* an artist, and yet thanks to inkscape I've managed to whip up this in less than two hours....



I swear if you give me a piece of paper and a pencil I'm drawing stick figures. I think I'm getting carpal tunnel from hitting undo all the time, too. XD

Can I get some constructive criticism on the piece though? I know the teeth suck - I plan on going back and fixing them up.

It's not for anything (at least not yet :). I'm just playing around, and in a strangely artsy mood.

If I had that on the end of *my* arm, I'd go and see a doctor.

I don't know, I mean - I know what looks good but always have had problems drawing it. This was mostly trial and error with the lines (and the calligraphy pen makes drawing these "ornate" lines of varying widths quite easy.)

I mean, I think a real artist...or perhaps I should say skilled artist...could draw the same image MUCH faster. But they'd know exactly what lines they want instead of using the guess & check method I did. :)
