Here's a stupid question. I haven't done this in a while. Do you guys remember what key your supposed to press when booting window XP to cause it to go into safe mode? i thought it was F8. Not working here.

Did you read/follow any of the suggestions in the first thread on this subject? If so, I'm wondering why F5 wouldn't work. It would be something of a coincidence that both keys were broken, in which case I would be wondering about Evak's F-Lock suggestion. Either way, it seems that the first thread has the solution.

If you've got a USB keyboard it may be that USB support is disabled in BIOS. Plug in a PS/2 keyboard, fix that, then try again.

Or just enable USB Keyboard Support in the bios. Could also be F-Lock. Try hitting F-Lock then the F5/F8 keys.
