Full-time and Freelance Professional Writers
Futuremark Corporation has two vacant positions for full-time professional writers, working on an exciting new project based in the field of PC gaming. In addition to the internal roles, there are openings for part-time, freelancer writers who are willing to join the project.
Both appointments require writers to produce several high quality articles pertaining to PCs and PC games each week for online publication; in addition to this primary role, full-time writers would be expected to attend conferences, meetings and shows if directed by the Editor-in-Chief or produce extra reports of a varying nature where necessary. Working as part of a skilled and professional team, all writers would be expected to advance their current levels of knowledge and understanding, learning from our own team of programmers and artists, as well as external bodies and developers.
Potential candidates, for either position, that reside in Finland, California or the United Kingdom are the most preferable but applications from countries other than the aforementioned are also welcome.
Qualifications
The successful candidates would be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experiences:
* Excellent communication skills and fluency in English; a clear ability to write consistent material with accuracy, pace and personality.
* Excellent IT skills, preferably including prior experience of online content creation and management tools and code. Broad experience of all popular office applications is expected.
* Competent knowledge and understanding of modern 3D rendering techniques and APIs such as Direct3D and OpenGL.
* Competent knowledge and understanding of modern PC game production methods, coding practices and development teams in general.
* Experience, knowledge and understanding of constructing and upgrading PCs.
* Experience of writing material for online publications is preferable, but not essential.
* High levels of diligence, motivation and independent work are expected; experience of working to specific deadlines is also desired.
