I don't think it has anything to do with how many copies they sold, more than likely they are great games.

Mine are great too :-), and the sales show that. If they weren't, people wouldn't buy them. It's no use having programmers as the judge of great games, the customers talk with their wallets.

I stand corrected, although Super Mario Brothers was bundled with the NES, so it "sold" wether you wanted to buy it or not.

According to mmogchart.com WoW has slightly more than 6.5 million subscribers (mostly in Asia) so I doubt it's that much. But yes Blizzard are doing alright for themselves. Still The Sims has sold over 16 million copies (not counting the sales of expansions) which is more than twice that.
